Publisher's summary

Rory MacLeod is a bold and powerful Highland Chief with only one allegiance-to his clan. He vows revenge against the rival MacDonald clan, though duty demands a handfast marriage to Isabel MacDonald-a bride he does not want and has no intention of keeping. But Rory couldn't have anticipated the captivating woman who challenges his steely control and unleashes the untamed passion simmering beneath his fierce exterior. Blessed with incomparable beauty, Isabel MacDonald is prepared to use every means possible-including seduction-to uncover her husband's most guarded secrets. Instead Rory awakens Isabel's deepest desires and her sweetest fantasies. Now Isabel has found the happiness she's always dreamed of with the very man she must betray, and discovers that passion can be far more dangerous than revenge.

Good book but not one of my favorites!

I really like Monica McCarty's books and hope to see more in audiobook format in the future but I had a hard time with this story, and actually stopped listening to it part way through the book and came back to it later. It wasn't a bad listen but I wasn't captavated and pulled in to the story like I am used to in books of this genre.

not sure

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I don't know... Maybe not. I'm not too into the book.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm going to find another Author

Any additional comments?

Goodness, this book moves so slow. Once again, here's another book of a weak heroine. It is said in the book several times that she isn't a timid woman but it seems to me that the Author doesn't know what she's talking about because this heroine is not just timid but spineless! I kept waiting for her to finally step up and show some real emotions, some anger and back bone BUT nothing! Seriously, I know that back in the old days, maybe women are a little on the "MEN RULES" side but come on! It's a BOOK! Give the heroine a little more back bone!! A little more pride!! Anyway, I was hoping to like this book so I can finish the trilogy but after reading this ridiculous first book, I can no longer go on. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP WRITING A HEROINE WHO DOES NOTHING BUT CAUSE TROUBLE WHERE EVER SHE GOES!

Wonderful book 1 can't wait to start book 2

I love Anthony Ferguson as a narrator. He makes listening to any book pure pleasure. When I look for a new book and see his name I know the story will flow along beautifully.

Author sounded board with the story

The author had a pleasant voice but did not seem passionate about the story so it ruined the story a little for me

very choppy read by the narrator

I've heard this narrator before and I wondered if this was his first time narrating. it was very choppy. what I mean by that is he would read part of a sentence and pause, like it was the end of the sentence but then read the rest. he did this constantly and it was annoying. the story itself was good but not as good as the rest of Monica's books, in my opinion. still worth reading.

Overall Good

I like the story overall I just got very frustrated at one point when the main character did something that was so stupid that it was hard to fathom anybody doing something so stupid. Other than that the development of the characters was done very well.

I was so disappointed

Would you try another book from Monica McCarty and/or Antony Ferguson?

Never will I try another of Monica McCarty's books. I was looking forward to a great story of romance, mystery, with a peppering of history. I was expecting to loose myself in a bygone era. What I got was nothing less than pornography. I am not a prude by any stretch, however; when the physical descriptions of the individuals and the states of physical anatomical discomfort and or desire is so often repeated, emphasized, and then regurgitated it completely negates the story. I shall not finish this book. The first hour was so just plain BAD

Has Highlander Untamed turned you off from other books in this genre?

I really like this genre. I have found much better story tellers

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

He was fine. He just had nothing to work with.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not a single one.

Annoying story, bad accents

First, the narration. These characters, on the Isle of Skye, have....French accents? Not Scottish, that's for sure. The narrator also has a habit of reading one sentence really quickly. And then a looonnnnggg pause.....and-another-sentence-really-quickly. That latter was irksome at first but I got used to it. The French accents, though...

And then the story. You could see right from chapter one what idiotic thing the heroine would do as the story's requisite tension/climax. It's like those horror movies where you want to smack the girl who's about to go in the closet instead of out the front door. Not in the closet! Well....same thing. No, you idiot, don't DO that!! But she did. And then she did it again. It made me not want to keep listening, because Argh! I could see (hear?) the stupid coming, and I dreaded it for the several hours it took to get to it.

But that said, it gets an overall 2 (though 1 for story and 1 for narration) because I *did* keep listening, and listened to the whole thing, and overall the characters were likeable. The heroine was just annoyingly, predictably, stupid about the one thing.
