Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Rachel Van Dyken kicks off a brand-new series in which romance is a game and love is a touchdown.

Emerson just made her dream come true as a professional cheerleader for her favorite pro football team. But even though the plus-size athlete is breaking down boundaries, she still has to contend with the massive rulebook. Carbs? Nope. Chocolate? Definitely not. Still, Emerson loves her curves, and she'll rock the hell out of this job even if it kills her. Except for one mandate that is easier read than done...

No fraternizing with the players.

Problem one is Miller Quinton: Emerson's first love, first sex, and the guy who still ignites her daydreams and R-rated fantasies. Thrown back together, Miller and Emerson feel the undeniable pull of passion again, even if the conflict that tore them apart seems insurmountable. Then there's way-too-sexy Grant Sanchez. He has a serious reputation with the ladies, and when it comes to winning someone he wants, he doesn't let anyone stand in his way.

Now Emerson is breaking every rule in the manual. But what she doesn't know is that she's part of a wicked little game - one that could steal both her dream and her heart.

Touchdown!

Touchdown for Rachel Van Dyken!! What a great book, not exactly how I saw it going at first which makes it even better! I can't wait to read more of the Players Game Series!

Wow! Great Story!💜

I loved this storyline. I wanted so much for Emerson to end up with him (no spoilers here) but also him too. My heart belonged to both men so I was rooting for them both. From the beginning of this story there were issues that caught my attention, curves, race & family drama this book has it all. Great chemistry, great characters, great story and absolutely amazing narration. I was a little disappointed that Aiden Snow didn’t come in until the close to the end but that’s just way it goes sometimes. It didn’t stop me from loving this book. Well done everyone.
I highly recommend this book.

Hello Football Players

I don’t know what I was expecting when I started this book I knew I wanted something fun and light-hearted and that is exactly what I got. It does touch on some more serious issues but in a way that doesn’t feel so heavy if that makes sense.

Emerson is a character I immediately loved, her spirit and zest for life shows through even if life has kicked her down but good. She just picks herself up and rolls with the punches.

When we meet the men of this book you’re not sure who to like and why you want to like them both and want them both to be who Emerson needs but that isn’t this kind of book. I loved how it unfolds and why. It really made me see these characters in a different light I loved the story. I couldn’t stop listening!

The narration is FABULOUS! I loved how each POV has their own voice. It really brought this story to life. I love, love, loved it!

surprising

I wasn't sure I was going to finish the story at the beginning. I usually hate book with too much drama from the past. Em, Miller, Grant, and Kinzy hooked me and I listened straight through. loved this book. Maybe even more since I wasn't sure at first.

Football romance, 1st in series

Best Friends Cheerleader Emerson and Footballer Miller cross paths again after years of being estranged when she they are both hired by the Bucks Team. The sparks fly and the heat rises when seasoned Bucks player Grant is thrown in the mix, stirring the pot and making everyone question their current motives and past mistakes.

The narrative trio was an interesting spin. I'm not sure I would have chosen the mail narrators for the characters they each portrayed. I think it might have fit better for the personalities if they had flipped spots. It was still enjoyable to listen to.

Fun and Entertaining Sports Romance

This is the first book that I've read by Rachel Van Dyken and I really enjoyed it! I was able to pick this one up via KU and switched back and forth between the ebook and audiobook. Summer Morton, Jeremy York, and Aiden Snow were perfect as Emerson, Miller, and Sanchez. Summer Morton especially shined as Emerson, but I really enjoyed her male voices as well. Listeners should be aware though that Aiden Snow doesn't appear until pretty late in the book, so keep that in mind if you're listening mainly for him.

The characters in Fraternize were hilarious and relatable and I loved unraveling the tangled history between Miller and Emerson. Of course, it was Sanchez who really stole the show though. He was both exactly who you thought he would be and completely unexpected. The addition of his POV made a huge difference for me and I really wish that it had been included earlier in the book. The secondary characters were equally awesome and I especially loved Kinsey and Jax. The bickering between them and the over-protective brother antics were a highlight and I'm hoping we will get a Jax book in the future too!

I loved Van Dyken's take on the love triangle trope and felt that it was honest and true for our characters. The ending was almost too sweet and perfect, but it did make my heart happy and the epilogue set the stage for the next book perfectly! Can't wait for Kinsey's story next!

An Emotional Rollercoaster

This book had me all over place, and not in a good way.
First: the narrators are AWESOME! Great job. And I adore RVD. I think she’s awesome too.

Second: I do not like how “mature” RVD writes her teenager characters in general and especially in this book. Most teenagers aren’t that emotionally mature. Most teen romances don’t last past high school. AND one character is blamed for leaving the other when he DID NOT HAVE A CHOICE. He was a child, a “boy”. You go where the military sends your parents. That’s literally the choice you have. Not this: “You Love someone you stay. There is literally no choice beyond that.”
Especially when your not thinking strait because your Mom just died and you’ve been the victim of emotional abuse from your father all your life. I didn’t like how this part of the book was written.

Third: RVD was still funny but I felt tricked. You think the story is gonna be “this” then it turned into a “that”. And I don’t read “that” kind of books anymore. (Hint: 🔼) Because they are so frustrating.
Then it turned into “and the other” by the end.
Also, the girl main character was all over the place emotionally. She sounds super strong at first. Then she’s crying all the time. One friend at an emotional part tells her “this isn’t you” and you think your gonna see the strong girl come back from the beginning of the book. Then some mean girl says something mean to her, and I thought “oh yeah, she’s gonna get mad and put this mean girl slut in her place!” and you know what she does? She runs off crying! 🤦🏼‍♀️
Oh well. I didn’t hate this book, but not one my favorites of hers either.

Great story with amazing narrators!!

This was such a great story. I read along with the audio/Whispersync and absolutely LOVED the narrators. Unlike with some of the audiobooks in the past, these narrators helped bring each character to life.

I don't want to give anything away to this story, but I will say that it is NOT what I expected. The way it was told, the perspectives given and how things played out...I was taken by complete and utter surprise. Fraternize was as much about a romance love as it is about a true love among best friends. That bond that is shared and how it can get stronger and teeter over into the physical aspect of a relationship. How love at a young age can encompass so much and appear to be EVERYTHING aspect of a relationship. How love at a young age can encompass so much and appear to be EVERYTHING versus how love as an adult can sneak up on you and be everything you imagined it to be. I just loved this story so much!!!
