Publisher's Summary

They’re serving up some red-hot revenge. A sizzling series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken.

Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex-NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a year later?

Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself.

Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie - for a price.

Now caught between two men - one totally right and the other totally wrong - Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk...and whom she’s willing to risk it for.

Disappointed version of Fraternize

I really wanted to love this book. I tried. I am a big lover of this author and she writes some pretty great books, but this one just didn't do it for me. Not to mention I felt too much like Fraternize, which I loved and is a much better version of this book. It was done so well.

I'll start with what I did like. The narration was really good. I got the same warm feelings I got when listening to Fraternize. I love the triple narration. It makes the book so fun to listen to and really gives each of the characters their own voice, literally. I love Joe Arden, he is a huge favorite of mine along with Teddy Hamilton. They are both amazing to listen to. So I'd highly recommend the audiobook because you will seriously enjoy it.

From the very beginning of this book I disliked Blair. Why do you ask? Because she is your typical woman scorned after she walks in on her husband cheating on her with her best friend and he has no remorse. So what does she do, she starts a PI business exposing cheaters. Yeah, Blair is a jerk. So of course she gets a new assignment and goes "undercover" to expose a new client when it turns out to be none other than a guy she dated in the past. He's an ex-football player whom she dated for three friggin weeks and never got over, and who she blames for rushing into her marriage. So Blair is extra determined to find Jesse cheating, especially when he shows interests in her through text messages. He never kisses her by the way.

So I will again say that I wanted to like this book, but Blair was a completely unlikable person. Her determination to find fault with both Jesse and Colin was annoying. I don't like that she made a career out of exposing cheaters. She finds out at the end that getting one side of the story for exposing people isn't always what's right. I mean she videotapes them in the act on Facebook Live. That's some messed up stuff. I really wanted to love this book, but I couldn't get past those things. The writing is still amazing and the story is really funny. I just have a few hangups.

Couldn't put it down!

Rachel Van Dyken does it again. She pulled me in and didn't let go. I devoured this book. And that's coming from someone who has been in a serious book funk.

I downloaded this in KU because it also gave the audio option. And I love all the things Teddy Hamilton gets his voice on, so I knew this would be a win.
But when I wasn't able to listen, I still sat down, kindle on, reading the words on the pages. It may have been Teddy who lured me in, but it was this crazy world RVD built that left me with the inability to put the book down.

Two days.

I would have been finished sooner, but life and work got in my way. And I love sleep about as much as I love books.

So, I just fell head over heels in love with Blaire and Colin and Jessie and Isla. Head. Over. Heels.

Isla and Blaire are besties who started a business designed to take down cheating exes.
When they land a larger than life client, they know they have to be perfect in this job.

But when the past barrels face-first into Blaire, she's left stunned and in a bit of a whirlwind.

He's the one that got away, but what if she finds herself falling for someone else? What happens then?

And Colin, oh, Colin. I love that man with the man bun and the snake tattoo. He's freaking hilarious and I want one for myself. PLEASE?!

I didn't want the story to end. Lucky for me--and you--RVD carries on in Dangerous Exes where you find out what happens to a few of the other characters.

Rachel Van Dyken scores another

Big hit! I love how you laugh out loud and can cry and feel all the feelings. I love that there were 3 performers for the parts... they did a great job! I also like that the main female character is human and has self doubts like all of us and isn’t described as some perfect non-existing person. Great job, highly recommended!

Witty, fun, lovable!

This book had everything I love in a romance story. Sarcasm, quick witted banter, triangle love story and different character perspectives. This story is told from 3 main characters perspective, Blair - the quirky woman scorned PI, her ex and forever love Jesse, and his best friend Collin. Even better, the audio is also 3 different people with men reading the male parts. The story was fast paced and fun and kept my attention that I listened outside of my normal listening time. This is book 1 in the series and I can’t wait to get book 2. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes flirty, fun and sassy romances!

Loved The Narrators But The Story Not So Much

The book didn't work for me. I have to like the characters and I just didn't like Blair and Colin. Maybe I would have liked her better if she had of confronted her ex-husband and ex-bestfriend. Instead her anger was displaced and she took it out on men who did nothing to her. And Colin. With friends like him wo needs enemies.

I loved the narration (especially Joe Arden). I would absolutely listen to them read something else.

Don’t Bother

I was 4 chapters shy of finishing the book. Just couldn’t do it. Didn’t even care what I missed at the end. Lots of filler and no substance. And this is Book One???

Collin

Is the shittiest friend ever. I'm sure by the end of the book he will miraculously redeem himself but he will always be a shitty so called bff.
I guess what really irritates me about Collin is his continuous claims of being Jessie's bestie but complete lack of f's to give if they'd have a friendship if he ended up with Blair instead of Jessie. That's not bff behavior... no matter the excuse and lies he tells himself... but I'm sure the author will find a way to make Collin the good friend in the end.
