Publisher's Summary

Dive into the secret, ancient, powerful world of two New Orleans families, the Deschanels and the Sullivans....

From USA Today best-selling paranormal author Sarah M. Cradit comes Empire of Shadows, book five in the best-selling witches family saga, The House of Crimson & Clover. Not a standalone story, Empire's plot makes the most sense only after having the prior volumes.

Two dynasties clash for power. Only one empire can emerge.

In a time now legend, a sacred vow united the Farværdig and the Tuatha Dé Danann. One race born of fire, the other risen from nature. Together, they enjoyed centuries of peace and prosperity, under the protective blanket of this hallowed oath.

But when war came to the doorstep of the Tuatha, the Farværdig turned their backs. Expelled from their lands, those Tuatha who were not extinguished went into hiding, later re-emerging in secret as the Quinlans. The broken vow took its toll on the Farværdig, dividing the race into two factions: those willing to fall to heel of new restrictive laws, and rebels determined to restore the peaceful values of their kind.

In the midst of years of strife that follows, a Prophecy emerged, promising hope. Unite the races once more, and right the ancient wrong.

As the shadows of age and myth are exposed, the Deschanels find themselves deeply enmeshed in this war. Their bloodline and futures closely intertwined with both races, each member of the family must uncover their own vital role in fulfilling the Prophecy or risk decimation.

Love This Series!

Empire of Shadows is Book 5 in The House of Crimson and Clover Series and is not a standalone. The story of the Deschanel and Sullivan dynasties of New Orleans continues and you won't be disappointed! With imaginative writing and great characters, I'm just loving this series! Narrator LC Kane does a terrific job of drawing in the listener and giving life to the characters. This series just keeps getting better and better and I would recommend Empire of Shadows: The House of Crimson and Clover, Book 5.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is my honest opinion.

This is not a walk in the park..

I did not listen to nor read the books before this, so i came in to this not knowing who was who. The story is written so that it soon becomes apparent what group is what.
Now not knowing the books before I still enjoyed this book. I want to know the wait ...how did they get here? the what's going on here factor and will probably get the earlier books so that what i didn't understand makes sense.
The characters are well written and the voice actress is lovely. If felt long to me, but again I am sure its due to the fact that i did not read the before books.
I was given this book for free in exchange for an unbiased review, thank you so much

Lose Yourself In This Series!!

I had not read any in the series prior to this but I still understood the storyline and I really enjoyed it. The Author is very descriptive and paints a vivid and detailed picture of the world and charcters living in it. Narrator LC Kane does a fabulous job of bringing the story to life verbally. I am looking forward to reading/listening to more in this series.

Excellent

Any additional comments?

Great listen with complex characters and story. Make sure you have listened to or read previous entries in series or it will be hard to follow. Excellent narrator with varied accents specific to each character. I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Start at book 1 but really good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

As this was a review copy, and free, I started this series at book 5. Understandably, this made it very difficult for me to figure out what was happening and actually get into the book. That being said, after a while I got into and found myself liking the author's writing style and the narrator's voice. I liked the book enough that I will likely seek out the first 4 books so I am caught up.
