This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Publisher's Summary
The Shack shattered our limited perceptions about God. Eve will destroy harmful misconceptions about ourselves.
From the author of the 25-million copy best seller The Shack comes a beautifully crafted, captivating new novel destined to be one of the most important and talked-about books of the decade.
Eve is a bold, unprecedented exploration of the creation narrative, true to the original texts and centuries of scholarship - yet with breathtaking discoveries that challenge traditional misconceptions about who we are and how we're made. As The Shack awakened listeners to a personal, nonreligious understanding of God, Eve will free us from faulty interpretations that have compromised human relationships since the Garden of Eden.
Eve opens a refreshing conversation about the equality of men and women within the context of our beginnings, helping us see each other as our Creator does - complete, unique, and not constrained to man-defined rules or limitations.
Thoroughly researched and exquisitely written, Eve is a masterpiece that will inspire listeners for generations to come.

Perfect for spiritual book clubs & revival of self
What made the experience of listening to Eve the most enjoyable?
I found myself going back to Genesis in the Bible and re-reading the Creation & the chapters on The Garden. I could see where the inspiration for the story came from; it was deeply moving and profoundly spiritual on so many levels all throughout the book, Oft was the time I found myself shouting into the air DON'T as the characters literally wormed their ways evilly about.
What did you like best about this story?
The story was redemptive. You understood the protagonists and how easily they plied their way into a good person. Weaving the Creation and The Garden into a story that had meaning today was done artfully and compassionately.
What does Roger Mueller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I personally feel more when the story is being read to me. I feel drawn into the book as if part of the scene unfolding as no printed words could attain.
Who was the most memorable character of Eve and why?
Lily Fields. Her journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening and most importantly, love-dawning was inspiring. Despite all that had been done to her, the bad choices of trusting & hiding she made.. she was deeply loved. And loveable, despite herself.
Any additional comments?
This definitely belongs in your library if you love to re-visit books with spiritual inspiration in it. I am grateful for the person who told me William Paul Young wrote another book after how deeply The Shack affected me. Both his books bring tangible understanding to the explainable, indescribable faith that we cherish. There are aspects of both books you will listen to over and over and over again for the joy they instill as you imagine them unfold before you. Pure spiritual delight.

Amazing!!!
I love this book. I already can't wait to read it again. The characters are beautifully created and grow genuinely. The allegory is strong and powerful. There a few surprises, though. I feel like many ideas are borrowed from mythology, feminist ideals and new age ideologies. But even so, the the core message IS real to me and relevant. Some of the creative vehicles used to arrive at some of the more outlandish ideals are quite absurd, albeit interesting for imagery and thought provoking sake. I think that combining truth with fiction just might create a sense of openness that allows a person to be able to be able to say- "hey this is crazy! It can't be. Or can it?" And then possibly truly seek the Father for themselves.
Amazing story! Better than the shack. Especially after chapter 6.

I absolutely love the perspective of this story. It is narrated very well and the voice change for the characters helped me keep up with the story. It was a little struggle to keep up with a few parts in the plot but a brilliant story nonetheless. Beauty, trust, and love blossom out of tragedy and chaos. I think Ill have to listen again...

EPIC EPIC!
Well! l was expecting something extraordinary from this book after The Shack, and Eve certainly is that!
Written with such an interesting mix of lush, imaginative prose, classic, large-landscape story-telling and intimate insight into the human heart and condition, this book was a total surprise.
WM Paul Young has an unique ability to weave story and expand and explore theological thought as he does it. The almost-science-fiction setting for this Epic of times and ages and times beyond ages (!) allows the reader the sense of moving through and in and out of history, present and future. The narration is first class too!
I found myself exhilarated by the descriptive power of the author's interpretations of Creations beginnings and evolutions, enthralled by his stories of Creations falling and wrapped in the drama of each layer and player he used to tell this extraordinary tale.
As with The Shack, it is a fascinating and rich read, a masterly interpretation of events and meanings we can barely imagine...Yet this is just what WM Paul Young has done. Interpreted, imagined, explored and plunged deep into the lush vegetation of biblical narrative and emerged with a prize, a book of epic proportions and a great read. l salute you my brother!

Interesting Take on an Age Old Story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Maybe to a religious friend, you definitely need some sort of Christian background to enjoy this story, though not all Christians will take kindly to this book.

A Deception
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I never could get into the book. The Voice was wrong, the story jumped around, and did not introduce characters well.
Would you ever listen to anything by WM. Paul Young again?
I don't know, this was a little bit over the edge of what I like in the way of a Christian novel. I was not comfortable with the freedoms he took.
What didn’t you like about Roger Mueller’s performance?
It should have been a female voice for one thing, And the voices he made for the females were not nice to listen to for long times. I many times lost who was talking.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment.
Any additional comments?
This book was to liberal with Christian thought. To vague with characters, and did not stay on track well, seemed to jump around. I still don't have a clear understanding of the story all the way through. I did not like it at all.

Thought provoking
I found the plot difficult to follow with all the 'flashbacks' and the 'two ' worlds.. I did not feel there was enough clarification of things at the end. ( or beginning!) In some ways it had the same kind of pattern as The Shack although the plot was obviously different. I found some of the thoughts about what was used in the Garden of Eden for 'covering', fascinating in a way that helped to make sense of some things that had always puzzled me.

The creation story reimagined
The author is giving the reader an alternative view of the creation and fall of man. I gave up when he declared Adam solely responsible for the fall, Eve an innocent bystander and the serpent (AKA) the devil, mans "ally". The writing style was sentimental but the narrator was good.

Intriguing
I initially found the story hard to get into. It starts like sci-fi, which I wasn’t expecting. There were a lot of moments that had me shouting at the teenage girl Lily “don’t do it”. But we all have to make our own mistakes. I do find the endings to all William Paul Young’s books frustrating, as they pull you back from the mystical and metaphysical to the mundane. But they are still really thought-provoking and fascinating. It was well worth reading.

Confusing yet profound
This book was well written and I loved it almost as much as the Shack. It has similarities but also lots of differences too. The book was extremely confusing for at least the first half and even bits of the second half however the concepts contained inside were fresh, insightful and profound, delving closer into the original fall from Grace and what it means for us, particularly for women. I would not hesitate to recommend his book and to persevere even through the confusion.

Brilliant storyteller!!!
Without a doubt William Paul Young is one of the most gifted storytellers around, as us evidenced by this intricate, layered and expertly woven story. Now that I’ve listened once, I will listen again to pick up the layers I missed the first time.
