Publisher's Summary

Some feelings you just can't fight.

He is known as the Warrior Captain - a master of every weapon, a fierce soldier sworn to protect his kind. Powerful, relentless, merciless, Elijah has always won every battle he's ever taken on - until now. Ambushed by necromancers, he is left for dead only to be discovered by the woman who could very well deliver the final blow: Siena, the Lycanthrope Queen.

With three centuries of warring, little more than a decade of uneasy peace has existed between the Lycanthropes and Elijah's people. Now, after a lifetime of suspicion, the warrior in Elijah is consumed with a different battle - winning Siena's heart by giving her pleasure beyond all boundaries. What starts as attraction and arousal soon burns into a passion with consequences that will echo through the ages for both their people. And as would-be enemies become inseparable lovers, another threat approaches, one with the power to destroy them all.

Spend some more time with the Nightwalkers - if you dare.

©2007 Jacquelyn Frank (P)2011 Tantor

What the Critics Say

"Both leads are strong, and Frank grants her hero a refreshing measure of insight into the relationship. What works even better is the camaraderie that develops between the Nightwalker tribes, as Frank plunges deeper into her dark world." (Publishers Weekly)

"Not as good as the others..."
Has Elijah turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes. I found the pace too slow and boring, and they spent way too much time in one location.

Did Xe Sands do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Not really. After a while all the male characters sounded the same to me.

    Any additional comments?

I really wanted to love this book. I've loved Elijah since I first read Jacob, but he became such a wuss, and I found the heroine super annoying. I actually enjoyed the Gideon part of the story a lot more.

Love historical and paranormal romances with smart, imperfect people who against all odds find love when they are not looking for it.

"too much review, still a good story"
    Any additional comments?

Frank spent a lot of time reviewing the previous stories, that got tiring after a bit. The story (inbetween the reviews) is strong and entertaining. New characters to love and to fear. Sands is just the best of narrators! Worth the credit and this book is important to the series.

"As good as Jacob, better than Gideon."

After Gideon's book I wasn't sure I was going to continue on with this series, it was so boring. But I wanted to read Elijah's story, especially since it has lycanthropes (my favorites) in it. Yes this book is better, more in the line of Jacob. So if you liked the first book you will enjoy this one too. I really liked the hair concept, of how it is a living part of a lycanthrope, kinda like a medusa. Overall I did enjoy this book. Although I'm not in a hurry to read the next, so I just might wait for a sale. As I have stated before Xe Sands is not my favorite narrator. It not her voice but her speed of reading that really gets me. If she would speed up just a bit, maybe she wouldn't put me to sleep. I might be in the minority here, but she is not my favorite narrator.

    "Yummy!"

Terrific addition to the Nightwalker series, Elijah is well worth reading. The fierce warrior's story of love and war is as sexy as the previous books have been.

    "Daemon Meets Lycanthrope"

3rd in the series, Elijah may actually be better than the first two (Jacob & Damien). The daemon warrior captain, Elijah, is mortally wounded and saved by the lycanthrope Queen, Siena. The first half of the book revolves around Siena's efforts to nurse Elijah back to health while trying to ignore the escalating romantic chemistry. Loved it, loved it! The rest of the book deals with how they wrestle with the inevitability of their imprinting... (like soul mates for the paranormal).

As the Nightwalker series continues, Frank seems to perfect her skill at describing the romantic chemistry between characters. With each book, the characters and situations get better and better. Hard to decide on a favorite. Sands' interpretation is well done and quite consistent. Unfortunately, I'm on the final book, Adam... so sad! If you like paranormal romance, this is one series you ought NOT miss!

The chemistry between these two characters were hot and heavy especially in the cave scene. It's a must listen!

    "Paranormal Romance"

Although this series is very much like a harlequin-type romance, I have to confess that I absolutely love them. I've listened to 3 so far and find that they draw me in from the get go. Maybe it's the narrator, she is wonderful. Her ability to take on the various accents and personalities of the characters is simply amazing. It is light fare and an entertaining story of demons, druids and other creatures of the night but definitely not horror.

"good 3rd book in the series"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Must know and read the previous two Jacob and Gideon. I will make it through the entire series.

What about Xe Sands’s performance did you like?

I like the female narrarators - and she is as good as I have listened to.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    NO.
