Publisher's Summary

Luz Velez is a shapeshifter who can't shift. Every time she tries to summon her inner wolf, she has a massive panic attack. Worse, her anxiety extends to the rest of her life. At 27, she's still a virgin because attempting to have sex sends her into lockdown mode. She's miserable and stuck - until Jude Jacobson comes along.

Tall, blond, and dangerous, Jude is the most feared vampire in town, and the minute he sees her, he wants Luz. Vampires and shapeshifters don't date, but he makes her an offer she can't refuse - a blood exchange that will help her control her panic attacks and give her the life she's always wanted.

Luz is desperate - she takes Jude up on his offer. But she doesn't expect to fall for the darkly seductive vampire - or to be plunged into danger when her past comes calling. When Jude's own dark secret comes to light, she begins to question her deal with the devil and wonder if she and Jude can make it...or if they'll die trying.

Author's Note

While I have tried to handle Luz's past trauma sensitively, some listeners, particularly those with a history of sexual abuse, may find this story disturbing.

"I am in love with Evangeline Anderson! "

Everything about this book was amazing. Some parts was a little to hard to hear because of my own past experience. But how this author keep me wanting to continue the story and get lost in the love and the strength that he gave her. Made this book worth-it to finish... I would encourage others to read this book. The moment I picked it up I couldn't put it down.

"Getting More Than They Bargained For"
What made the experience of listening to Deal with the Devil the most enjoyable?

The narrator did a great job reading the characters and bringing them to life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loved Jude he was more than just an alpha vamp, he was protective, patient, determined and gorgeous. Being a incubus definitely helped in the lovemaking department

    Which scene was your favorite?

Loved the ending scenes and the HEA, and all the sexy between the two main characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several moments touched my heart , read the review below.

    Any additional comments?

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Deal With the Devil. By Evangeline Anderson 2nd ed.

Somehow I missed reading this great stand alone paranormal drama/romance/urban fantasy and am so glad it has been offered again (I received an ARC for an honest review).
It is a story that not only encompasses romance, danger, adventure, hot sexy everything but also touches on tolerance for those that are different and/or have suffered emotional and physical trauma.

The author has done a wonderful blurb describing the book so I will concentrate on my review.
First of all the heroine, Luz (an non-shifting werewolf)suffers from panic attacks so badly it has stopped her from passing the bar exam several times, I also suffer form these and understand the trauma and fear these cause, and also left many tests unable to finish, so this was quite relatable.
Luz's trauma stems from some crazy customs her pack enforces that includes endangering young women. Her social pack climbing familyvolunteers their daughter for the unthinkable.

Despite this trauma (which is part of the reason she can not shift), Luz has the courage to leave her selfish family and gets through college and law school.Intelligent, beautiful with an inner warmth, I admired Luz's brave determination.
Unfortunately her panic attacks are affecting her work life and making it impossible for her to pass the bar exam.she hasn't even dreamed of attempting dating.

Along comes a gorgeous blond sexy vampire who, to her surprise, wants Luz desperately and not just for physical reasons. There is though something different and dangerous about Jude. This hunky alpha vamp is not only highly protective but a incredible amount of patience for Luz.
In this world vamps and weres not only don't get along but also avoid any relationships between themselves.
There are a lot the two lovers must work through not even including the huge miscommunications between the two species and little by the way of tolerance.

When Jude offers to make a bargain with Luz to help her overcome her panic disorder it's an offer she can't refuse. The romance and sexual attraction that grows between the two blossoms despite age old beliefs. Jude believes it's time to change some of these rules, clear up some of the prejudice and misconceptions between the two specie, he's not the only one who feels that way.

There is still the adventure, excitement, romance, very hot sexual scenes as in many of Evangeline's writing but I found this book a bit different and refreshing than this authors other stories. The delicate sexual experiences that co tributes to Luz's panic disorder was handled delicately, with care and respect.
There are some excellent secondary characters and great world building as well.
An awesome amazing read I'm so glad Ms. Anderson was able to bring it back to us. There's also a great preview at the end for the next Kindred book.

    Story
"to be or not to be that is the question"

she's one of my favorite authors and like the rest I do enjoy them. you have a 27 year old female who is a shapeshifter who is unable to shift and has still not lost her virginity and due to her past history & traumatize , is a few things that will not allow her to move on emotionally and physically. you have a vampire who's also had a bad history and it is tired of being alone. it is a love story about two opposites who cannot be together but their hearts want with their hearts want. and when things are finally going right are poor She Wolf pass is creeping up on her putting her into Danger. I really like this book I I wish the female character was not so naive it kind of made me irritated knowing that you should be running out the front door instead of going up the stairs if you get my drift. but overall I really enjoyed it the narrator did a great job as she always does and I can't wait until her next new release on any book

What made the experience of listening to Deal with the Devil the most enjoyable?

This book was fantastic...I did not expect it to be so good and I really enjoyed the charaters and the story line. I love to listen to paranormal and this book did not disappoint.. I like this author and have read other books by her.

Have you listened to any of Mackenzie Cartwright’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The narrator did an awesome job of distinguishing between the male and female characters

    Any additional comments?

I will be putting this author on my automatic buy list

    "Steamy and Hot"

Wow, I've always enjoyed listening to Evangeline Anderson books ever since the Kindred warriors but she definitely did not disappoint. The story is developed with some darker points but what a sexy story, characters and connection. You'll definitely be fanning yourself in some parts because it's so hot but overall it's a good story, character development with a bit of mystery.

    "Another Great Story by Anderson"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would recommend this audiobook to others, because the story is great and so is the narration by Mackenzie Cartwright.

What other book might you compare Deal with the Devil to and why?

I don't like to compare books so i will just say if you liked this vampire/werewolf love story, you may enjoy the vampire/mortal story, "Until the Sun Falls from the Sky," By Kristen Ashley and Narrated By Abby Craden. They both are focused on a strong vampire and a crisis of love between the different species. These stories are not similar in their plot but they do speak similar interests.

What about Mackenzie Cartwright’s performance did you like?

I love Cartwright's ability to vary her voice between women and men, as well as a great range of emotions reflected in her narrations.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the feelings Jude expressed were very moving. There were also exchanges with Luz pack and family that really fired up some rage.

    Any additional comments?

I have read around 15 of Anderson's books and more recently have listened to the audiobooks that are available. I love her plot rich stories and characters. The only thing I hate about her stories is the women are cookie cuter shy in the intimate bedroom scenes and the men are always delicate and coaxing. This gets very old to read and even worse to listen to after a few books and painful after 10+. Although this is my nth book in a long line of her works, this is probably one of the handful of her stories where this behavior fits. So if a person is reading this as their first of Anderson's books, then there should be no problem. If however you are a dedicated fan, just bear through the intimate scenes with a mind that at least one scene is critical in the progression of the story and it is very realistic if would happen in the real life (of supernatural).

    "Dark, Gritty, and Unforgettable"
What did you love best about Deal with the Devil?

I loved the originality and beauty of this wonderful story. It was fresh, raw, and amazing. I loved the paranormals highlighted and embolden in this fabulous book. I can't get over the amazing characters that took my heart by storm and surprised me at every turn. It delighted my senses and put a bright smile on my face. I loved all of it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Deal with the Devil?

When Jude allowed Luce to finally work through the pain in her past and let her take back control of her life for good. Even in his own discomfort, he empowered her at every turn no matter what. He laid down his heart at her feet every chance he had.

What does Mackenzie Cartwright bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would miss her energetic spirit and her heartfelt spirit. She brings her big heart to each character she puts to life. It is such a wonderful experience!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sometimes the devil could be your best friend.

    Any additional comments?

I am so thankful to have been able to experience this marvelous story! So heartfelt and wonderfully creativity that it made my heart burst. This is one story that I will never forget!
