Publisher's Summary

Since the night of her brutal attack and unwilling transformation into a vampire, Merit has stood as Sentinel and protector of Chicago's Cadogan House. She's saved the Windy City from the forces of darkness time and again with her liege and lover, Ethan Sullivan, by her side.

When the House is infiltrated and Merit is attacked by a vampire who seems to be under the sway of dark magic, Merit and Ethan realize the danger is closer than they could have imagined. As malign sorcery spreads throughout the city, Merit must go to war against supernatural powers beyond her comprehension. It is her last chance to save everything - and everyone - she loves.

    My Review:
    Overall: 4.5

    Story: 4.5

The end of this series. I've looked forward to this book so much, but at the same time I've dreaded it because I wasn't sure if I was ready for this series to end. But the author really did an amazing job with how she ended the series.

This series has always had this unspoken character in it...Chicago. And Chicago plays a HUGE roll in this book. And I kind of love that Chloe Neill did that because she took this amazing series and just made it epic for the end. I loved that.

So this book...it features the wedding. All the good things are happening for Merit and Ethan...and it is good. I love how they've grown and evolved throughout this series. For their relationship, they are in such a GOOD place. They love and respect one another and that comes through in everything. It's everywhere else in their lives that keep having issues. But they stay in a happy place, so I'm okay with whatever happens as long as that continues. Also, there was a HFN resolution for Jonah in this one that I kind of loved, too.

And I really don't want to say anything else about it, because this is the finale. I don't want to spoil anything about it. You need to know it's going to be good. It's a great finale. All the various story lines are taken care of. All the characters show back up. Everything is tied up with neat little bows and where things go in the very end are better than brilliant. I'm happy.

And note...if you listened to this in audio like me, message me. There is a single page in the back of the physical book that isn't in the audio about things to come and you WANT to know what it says! I promise...

    I'm so excited.

"The book I wanted to hate but loved"
Would you consider the audio edition of Blade Bound to be better than the print version?

Probably except it was incomplete, the book contains a teaser for the spin-off from this series, I really feel cheated that it was not included in the audiobook

    Any additional comments?

I wanted to hate this book because it was the last in this series and there was too much to close and address, and 1/2 way through the book I felt that there we would be cheated out of a good ending for the series. However, Chloe really delivered the goods and I do not know that there could have been a better ending.

    "Blade Bound"

Oh my gosh what wasn't to like? I've loved every book in the Chicagoland Vampire series and I think this was the perfect way to end this story path. I cannot wait to see where the next path takes Chloe Neill and hope that even if it doesn't follow Ethan and Merit that they still have a place somewhere. I wonder if now that they know that miracles can happen if more will join the following series or if it was a one time fluke because all the right ingredients made it happen. only time will tell. :-)

    Any additional comments?

Merit and Ethan are back and still saving Chicago and the world by extension. All of the characters we have come to know are back and some future detail of each is revealed. I can't spoil this book, there are just too many good moments that must be discovered by the reader. This is a MUST read of the series. That is all I can say.

"EXCELLENT ENDING OF A GREAT SERIES"

Very good. Interesting plot. I love the wedding. All my favourite characters are there. The plot is fantastic and I like the part of the bonding with the dragon. Throughout the story Ethan's and Merrit's love shows through. Very romantic! I like that they have a baby and the epilogue of the offsprings of the important characters appear, I hope that Chloe Neill is hinting that there will be a new series coming up soon! Thank you for a great series Chloe Neill and to Sophie Eastlake for a good reform acne.

"A bittersweet ending to a great series"

Every book in this series is a pure gem and this one does not disappoint. I'm sad this series is over, but it goes out on a very high note. All of the major plotlines that were threaded throughout this series are neatly tied up and it does not feel forced or cheap. This is how to end a great series.

I don't think that this is the best book in the series, but I love how it ends.

    "The perfect ending"

Endings are difficult. Authors can make those endings harder with a bad finish (as with one fantasy series this year). Happily, Chloe Neill is not one of those authors. Blade Bound stuck to series pattern and didn't try anything fancy or showy. It wrapped up everything which needed a conclusion. There was some series nostalgia, but it stuck mostly to Ethan and Merit's relationship, which was understandable as the wedding was the first event of the book. Speaking of which, I liked that Neill gave the bachelor's parties and the wedding their space at the beginning, rather than making them almost a running gag (another recent release).

All in all, this is one of the most consistent and satisfying urban fantasy series, and Blade Bound was a perfect way to stick the landing.
