Publisher's summary

Marina is hot, blonde, and wickedly smart, but when it comes to men? She's hopeless. Between her quirks and her lack of filter, there isn't a man in Los Angeles that will stick around after the third date.

Her handsome, charming friend Lazarus has the opposite problem. Everyone wants to be the sexy Brit's girlfriend, but he gets bored and moves on quickly. There's only one way to figure out why neither of them has cracked this love thing - they'll date each other.

On paper, it's the perfect experiment. But in reality, things between Marina and Laz get complicated quickly. They might be bad at love, but they are even worse at being friends.

Contains mature themes.

Great story; almost great narration

I was a little put off by Cornell Collins' American voices, though he was charming as the Manchester Brit. I did pause the story because of his narration, but Jo Raylan (aka Xe Sands) is a favorite and I did love her reading of Marina so I returned and it was worth it. So the story gets the full 5 stars. Narration: Jo Raylan 5 stars; Cornell 4 stars.

As Sweet as Honey

This book will make you smile. Karina Halle has written a terrific slow burn story about two friends who fall for one another. Although the description of the book makes it sound done again and again, Karina makes it fresh and adorable with her deep and loveable characters. The narration was done well by both, although Cornell Collins's sexy British accent does struggle at times to fill in the American female voices. Jo Raylan is perfect! She can convey the nervousness, silliness, joy, pain, and the rest of the spectrum of emotions -so well- it is amazing to hear.
This book is worth your credit!

Bad at love

Loved it!!!! Jo Raylan being my most favorite narrator was the reason behind the read and not disappointed with the male (sorry name slips me); but oh so good. A perfect combination of sexually erotic narration. Just love Audio Escape!🥃

Great story!

Solid story with well developed characters, a romance that actually builds over time, and plenty of steam, without the storyline disappearing after the first sexual encounter, as it does in so many books these days. I hope this author does more books like this in the future.

Great narration by Jo Raylan. The male narrator didn't quite nail the American accents, and the voices he gave to some of the side characters were just grating. He did fine with the male MC, just not the best at voices or accents.

Great pacing

**spoiler alert** I listened to this as an audible audiobook and the female narrator is a favorite of mine but the male narrator was hard to get into. His accent didn’t feel authentic and his “voices” when voicing other characters were cringey. His stoner friend in particular was painful to listen to.
All that said, I really enjoyed the actual story and book. It was your typical friends to lovers with a 3rd act breakup and personal twists and turns that pulled the couple back together but it was nicely done and had a nice story arch. It didn’t feel rushed which I find happens a lot in books of this genre so that was especially satisfying.

Disappointed

This was a disappointment...I have loved the other books I ha e read by her, so I was shocked that I couldn't get into this one... I don't know if it was the narrators or the story for sure... But I do think the story could have been better.

Friends to Lovers

I love stories that start out as long friendships with back-burner feelings. When the story is written well, it's fascinating to watch how the events and choices made by the characters turn their relationship into a different beast altogether.
The narrators for the audiobook were an interesting choice. Jo Raylan is one of my all time favorite performers and she did a fantastic job with Marina and ALL the voices she portrayed. This was the first time I'd listened to Cornell Collins and it took a bit of getting used to his accent for Lazarus and his non-accent attempt for the others.

Terrible narration

Storyline might be interesting if you can finish it, I couldn't because of the terrible narration

Narrator fail

Dnf the story seemed promising, but the male narrator was unbearable. He’s female voices were grating, American accent weak and English accent was that of a working class bloke instead of the posh English accent that someone who went to English boarding school would have had.
