"Finally, details that expand the religious story"

I'm sure other historians and others will have a field day with this, arguing their points, slanting this way and that. But for me, this book accentuated the horrific background of the religious story, without delving too deeply into the religious aspect and biblical themes. It enriches the bible stories; their locations, attitudes of the people, laws of the time, barbarism of the time, and facts upon facts from the tiniest unripe fig to the glory of the Jewish temple and spotlights many traditions of the people. It's a book I'll recommend to others who want to have a glimpse into the life and times of Jesus through the eyes of many who surrounded him, in the culture in which he lived. Thank you for this great work.

    "Great information"

This was a lot of information to take in. I think I may have to listen a couple more times. there was a lot that I didn't know about the customs of the people. Bill speaks in his sing songy way throughout the recording and it gets a little annoying but he tells the story in a very matter of fact way. This is not a religious book but does quote from the Bible because that's where we get the story from but adds in a lot of other historical writers as well.

    "Sensationalist but Compelling"

I find that Bill O’Reilly has sensationalized a lot of the events in Jesus’ life and used it to promote the book and his political ideology. Even the book’s title is sensationalist. I quickly realized that he was conveniently portraying Jesus’ struggle as between a corrupt, over-powerful Roman government versus a discriminated against Christian minority. This is him injecting his politics and conservative ideology into the story where it should be left out to be more objective. However, it was an interesting and often violent read and kept my attention.

    "Well done. "

a well-done concise and well-presented brief narrative history of the life of Jesus. I know that there are a multitude of ancient sources and I would have liked to have heard more citations during the story rather than grouping them together at the end in the afterword

"Lots of suspect details included, but worth a listen"

They tended to fill in a lot between the lines with details that in no way are supported by research, but decent educated guesses. Worth a listen.

    "Informative"

I know the story of Jesus, but found this to be extremely interesting which establishes Jesus as a Real person and not a myth. Thank you both Bill and Martin for taking the time to research and write this book. Much appreciated.

    "Read Killing History too"

Didn't seem that historical, so I read Killing History too. Shows how unhistorical this "history" is
