Spiritual Direction From St. Francis De Sales

I truly enjoyed listening to The Introduction to the Devout Life. I love listening to everything written by or about saints and this was no exception. This audiobook is such a treasure for anyone. Every single passage in this book are words to live by. I've listened to several of my own audiobooks by saints such as St. Francis and St. Therese and this one was right up there with them. Loved it!

This was an audiobook I listened to in a few sittings. It was like music to my ears and I'll listen to it again. Robert J. Shaw's narration was perfect. He spoke very clearly and from his heart. He's a new reader for me and I'll listen to him again.

Incomparable Content - - Excellent Narration

What did you love best about Introduction to the Devout Life?

17th century spiritual direction that is completely relevant in today's life and times. Written for those living in the world it can easily be applied not only to one's spiritual growth but to all of our interactions and challenges in the secular world. The narration captures the voice I would imagine for St Francis de Sales and his qualities as a spiritual director. ...intelligent practical, truthful, direct, patient, loving and calming.

Good Introduction

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. This is my voluntary review. This book gave lots of insight into what St. Francis believed. The many aspects that are shown to help one understand what it really means to live a devout life, not a religious life were very good. The narrator was slow at times then would speed up. But other than that I enjoyed listening to the things given. I also learned ways to change some of the ways that I live my life.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord

Rich in content, broad in scope, probing the sublime and the mudane. To read a little is to gain a treasure. Only complaint is the pace of the narration, it's like thirsty man trying to drink from a fire hose 😢

Excellent book to increase your devotion to God!

St Francis de Sales lays out a perfect plan to live a life for Christ. Christ gave His life for us and all He asks is we give our lives to Him in return. Here is the blueprint to ensure you are doing that.
