Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author John Eldredge offers listeners a breathtaking look into God's promise for a new heaven and a new Earth.

This revolutionary book about our future is based on the simple idea that, according to the Bible, heaven is not our eternal home - the New Earth is. As Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew, the next chapter of our story begins with "the renewal of all things", by which he means the Earth we love in all its beauty, our own selves, and the things that make for a rich life: music, art, food, laughter, and all that we hold dear. Everything shall be renewed "when the world is made new".

More than anything else, how you envision your future shapes your current experience. If you knew that God was going to restore your life and everything you love any day, if you believed a great and glorious goodness was coming to you - not in a vague heaven but right here on this Earth - you would have a hope to see you through anything, an anchor for your soul, "an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God" (Hebrews 6:19).

Most Christians (most people, for that matter) fail to look forward to their futures because their view of heaven is vague, religious, and frankly boring. Hope begins when we understand that for the believer nothing is lost. Heaven is not a life in the clouds; it is not endless harp strumming or worship singing. Rather, the life we long for, the paradise Adam and Eve knew, is precisely the life that is coming to us. And that life is coming soon.

Hope. Wonder. Anticipation. Life.

Never disappointed with John's books. As with others, this book is like the bridge on his grandfather's ranch: full of beauty and adventure that connects me with Jesus. Thanks, John!

Just what I needed

Really enjoyed this book. My wife and I just had a baby and this helps remind me self-sacrifice is worth it. The small decisions have a lasting impact not just in the moment. The author is great for this subject.

Restorative

Amazing book. Once again John Eldredge gives us a sneak peak into the Kingdom of God in a way that few have. I love to dream with him about what it will be like when All Thing are New. What will you and I be like fully new? What this world, including my town, look like fully restored? Animals? Work? Play? It actually makes me excited about what is coming. Dreaming of our future reality

Much of the future is unknown, but it shouldn't stop us from trying to imagine what God has in-store for us. Guided by scripture of course. Well done.

Incredible

Incredible because of the hope it restores to followers of Jesus. Praise God that we're able to see with the eyes of our heart. How could we have missed this? Thank you John and your diligence. May laughter, satisfaction, and a great anticipation be your reward!

My new favorite book...

This is clearly the best book I've ever read. I'm not saying that lightly. It's all about the best promise of God. Restoration of all things in His kingdom, which we can look forward to, and which gives hope to us in this life full of darkness. Eternal life is the greatest free gift one could ever believe to be true. But it is true, and this book outlines in a marvelous way what we as believers have to look forward to. I've never really thought about what life would be like in heaven. It was too abstract for me to even begin to ponder. John Eldridge has masterfully revealed to us in this book what we can expect. I'm convinced the Holy Spirit led his writing every step. How else could it have been done so perfectly?
Now I know and am so excited about His Kingdom which will be here on earth with all of my losses (which are too many to list here) restored. Now I really can imagine that I will be able to play the piano for Jesus! And it will probably be on a piano just like or even better, if that's possible, than the piano I play now. And I will play without mistakes!
I can't wait to play my piano for Jesus!
