Publisher's summary
Many of the traditional Pilates exercises have to be avoided by folks who have a herniated disc, because many of the classical abdominal strengthening exercises put the disc into a weakened position that can cause pain. This Personalizing Pilates: Herniated Disc workout includes exercises that are taught in either a neutral spine position or in spinal extension. These positions help to re-position the disc and strengthen the muscles around the vertebrae and disc so that pain is minimized or even eliminated.
The Personalizing Pilates: Herniated Discs workout program includes three files. First is the free Ab Tutorial, which is a short workout that teaches you how to find and engage your deepest, supportive abdominal muscles. These muscles are important because they support the spine and the disc as well as flatten the tummy!
In the workout, Sherry Lowe-Bernie's voice guides you through a gentle Pilates workout that focuses on strengthening your abdominals, as well as the small, supportive muscles of the lower back.
This workout was created by and is taught by Sherry Lowe-Bernie, owner of Personalizing Pilates. Sherry is a PMA Certified Pilates Teacher, which means that you are working with one of the best Pilates teachers you can find. Sherry has over 10 years experience teaching Pilates and over 25 years teaching fitness.
