A price paid in blood

“The Order of the Centurion is the highest award that can be bestowed upon an individual serving in, or with, the Legion. When such an individual displays exceptional valor in action against an enemy force, and uncommon loyalty and devotion to the Legion and its legionnaires, refusing to abandon post, mission, or brothers, even unto death, the Legion dutifully recognizes such courage with this award.”

Tired of sitting out the war on Psydon in a mobile office lab, Legion Lieutenant Washam agrees to undertake a covert and unsanctioned mission with a band of Republic Recon Marines. Inserted deep behind enemy lines, the strike force uncovers a surprise key to ending a bitter war. Now they must navigate a hostile jungle teeming with murderous alien rebels, pushing themselves to the limits of their abilities, to get this vital intel to Legion Command - if they can survive that long.

The Order of the Centurion is an all-new series of stand-alone military science fiction thrillers set in the Galaxy's Edge universe, ranging from the Savage Wars to the arrival of the Black Fleet. Each book features the legendary heroes of the Legion who forgot nothing in their earning of the Legion's highest honor.

For those nervous to try this book because it isn't RC Bray, fear not. Mark Boyett is an excellent narrator and has an impressive array of different voices. I would even say that his actual narration voice (when he's not actually portraying a character) is even a step above RC's incredible abilities.

Regarding the actual plot, this story is as thrillingly written as the Battle of Kublar, but not even close to the same plot. The writers tied the story nicely into the upcoming stories of the Galaxy's Edge stories, without making everything feel too convenient. A little on the short end of a book, but I felt I got my credit's worth.

Another fine entry in the series

I have loved the Galaxy’s Edge series since I first started listening to it. This book however catapults it into one of the best in Military Science Fiction out there. It packs more emotion in one book than most pack in a series. Will not disappoint!

Amazingly done.

Action packed story kept your interest peaked to find out what would happen next. Sad that the Sargent Major had to die couple months before his retirement,, would it if they all could recieved the Order of the Centurion all the Legion soldiers ,and the Marines awarded an Honor suitable for their branch of the Military. Brotherhood and strong friendships is showned very strongly in this story. Actually teared up very heart warming and wrenching.
Would really recommend this book. Told very well i could vision exactly what was read, got great visions un mind of the place the terrain, climate and around.

Riveting action all through.

It has all of the action and all of the feels. An amazing story beginning to end.

A tale worthy of the order of the centurion

It was an interesting world you learn nothing about. I thought the story was good and the characters likable yet the scope of the story, a small skirmish in the woods, was too small.

With that said, it was well written, fun, believable, and worth the money/credit. In the context of a greater series, this may be the beginning of a much grander story, and worthy of that extra star I didnt give.

A long, short story.

I have listened to all of the GE books, and this one is solid gold. Nick and Jason do an amazing job of invoking the listeners emotion and connection. I literally choked up multiple times in the last hour and a half of this great listen. I don’t want to spoil much, but Subs is a BA and Wash has a future ahead of him.

Best GE Book to Date

I bought the entire OotC series on sale and did not regret spending a cent. It’s an awesome story about a Point with backbone. A real Legionnaire Point. Wash. This is some great background for an awesome character. 10/10

So good.

I can't hype this series enough, the dialogue, writing, and performance were all done in an amazing fashion. You could actually feel the raw emotion the characters experienced, the loss, the anguish, and the victories. The characters were slightly antiquated and almost anachronistic in their behaviors, but still came off as they were written. Good stuff for a small listen if you enjoy audiobooks.

amazing addition and tie in
