Publisher's Summary

I knew exactly what I wanted out of my senior year.

A full ride to Northwestern University. The title of American high school journalist of the year. And a kiss, not just any kiss, but one from the boy I've been in love with since the sixth grade.

By October, my plan was fully in motion with liplock by Christmas imminent. Imminent, that was, until Andie Mercantile moved to Marlowe Junction, swooping both my beat and my man.

Now, I'm stuck writing the sports column - a subject I know nothing about. My goals aren't unobtainable, but they will take a lot more work. Just because a sports writer has never won journalist of the year before, doesn't mean it can't be done. And as for the kissing part, I'm not counting myself out just yet.

After all, maybe learning a bit about competition is just what I need.

Off Center is the second book in the Varsity Girlfriends series.

Mackee is a dream

Lane is an inspiring journalist who is hopelessly in love with the editor of her school newspaper. When a new girl arrives and takes the attention of the editor it throws Lane off and she ends up with the assignment of sports editor of the newspaper. Mackee is a basketball player and he is also on year book he takes Lane under his wing and teaches her about basketball. Spending time together leads to feelings but will Lane let he feelings for the editor ruin her budding relationship with Mackee. I loved this book and the narration was amazing. This is the first time I have listened or read anything from the author and I look toward to reading more from her in the future.

Sweet listen

Great story, well written with excellent dialogue and character interaction. The narrator did an excellent job catching Lane in all her inner monologue glory but the recording was unbalanced and not well edited which detracted from the story a little.

Cute and Fun

I thought this was so cute. Lane is an inspiring journalist with a major crush on the editor of her school newspaper. She’s made the sports editor, desire being rather unqualified to cover sports. Mackee takes her under his wing, offering help and teaching her what she needs to know. I adored how their relationship grew and changed, it was an authentic bond they shared. There was more depth to the story than I expected.

Rachel Music’s narration was fantastic. She delivered the youthfulness of the story.

Young Adult

I haven’t listened to any other books in this series, but I thought this was cute.

Lane thinks she knows how her life is supposed to go. Which college she should attend, who she should be dating, and what time of reporter she wants to be. Life throws her some curve balls and she realizes that her plan may be flawed.

This story was cute and heartwarming. I’ll be on the lookout for more in this series!

WOWED! This just wowed me!

Wow I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story. It really Wowed me! The characters were fun and had some depth to them. The story was sweet yet smooth and amazing. So many surprises In this shorter story. Family issues, friend issues, boyfriend issues. I loved it all. I worried this was going to be light and airy but it wasn’t. It has angles That you don’t see coming.

This is my first book by this author. I am glad I gave it a go! I will have to check out the others in this series. My two fav characters were Mackie and the mom (romance writer). They were both fun but each also had a deeper side to them. I listened to this on audio. Rachel Music was spot on! She did a great job being all the different characters.

sweet fun contemporary young romance

An enjoyable sweet contemporary clean young romance. This engaging story was sweet with a curve ball of a young girl going after her dreams and finds romance. This is a standalone within a series and happens to take place around the same time, which gives you more on previous series characters. You get all the right emotions from this wonderfully narrated story felling sad, happy, swoony, frustrated and more in a really cute story. Narrator and author did another amazing job can't wait to listen to more from the Varsity girls series.

Great Read

Off Center: Varsity Girlfriends, Book Two was a great read by M.F. Lorson. Lane knew exactly what she wanted during her senior year of high school. She wanted to get a full ride to Northwestern University, she wanted to be named the American high school journalist of the year, and a kiss from the boy she's loved since sixth grade. She finds herself stuck writing the sports column even though she knows nothing about sports. Mackee is a basketball player who takes Lane under his wing to teach her about basketball. I loved reading this book and can't wait to read more by M.F. Lorson. Rachel Music does a great job of narrating the characters so that you fall in love with them.

Totally adorable!

I've listened to some of the other audiobooks in this series and I've thought they were all sweet and just adorable. Off Center is no different. I liked the characters a lot. They were likeable and extremely relatable. It's always a nice break to get something light and fun, and this new adult romance hit all the marks for me. I'll continue to way for books from this author. Along with Rachel Music, who did a good job. Miss Music was good at this light and fun story.

Sweet!

Off Center was a sweet high school story with characters who were very likable and relatable. The twist in the story was quite unexpected but made me enjoy the book that much more. It also made me want to listen to the rest of the series. I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice and clean high school romance. Rachel Music did a good job bringing this story to life.

Don't underestimate this one!

M F Lorson did an excellent job with this story! Very well narrated by Rachel Music - I initially thought the narration came across as somewhat manic, but really, that's exactly the character she is depicting, so was very apt. It would be easy to think this storyline is a little simple at first, but the depth of the story grows well and becomes extremely poignant at the end - very well depicted and very moving. Well done to both Author and Narrator - thoroughly enjoyed the story.
