great

One of the best suspense sets there is. Suspense and the whistler are 2 of the best radio shows in my opinion

Great Storytelling & Acting!

I really enjoyed listening to SUSPENSE: BEYOND GOOD & EVIL. It gives me an idea of what people did for entertainment before TV was in every household. BTW, “SUSPENSE” is the name of the radio program and it features different stories of murder and mystery.

This volume contains multiple story-plays that are acted by some of the great stars of the golden age in Hollywood.

The only thing that might be off putting to some listeners is the constant sponsor reminder “Roma Wines” (but I enjoyed them and I wonder if Roma Wines is still in business?) that pops up every now and then.

The plays provide sound effects like doors closing, foot steps etc., so you can imagine the scenes.

Likewise, the writing is very clever on these broadcasts and a few have those jaw-dropping twists that leave you gaging!

Sound quality is pretty good (considering these were recorded for radio broadcast) and pretty clear for all except the last (or second to last) which sounded a little muffled but in no way interfered with listening pleasure. Feedback and scratches etc., were practically non-existent and those present only last a few seconds.

The other thing is the trailer for an upcoming “Suspense” — which comes at the end of each show — may or may not be the actual show that plays next. This might be because of continuity with theme, maybe quality issues prevented the episode to not be included, rights were not secured etc., which isn’t a big deal, but one episode had the star Agnes Moorehead talking about next week’s episode that was starring her friend Vincent Price that I wanted to hear but it was not on this volume.

I would highly recommend SUSPENSE: BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL to anyone who enjoys listening to radio dramas and those who are nostalgic for yesteryear.

almost perfect

as a huge fan of The Twilight Zone I LOVE these stories. however, the i am starting to despise Roma wine immensely. this volume would be perfect if they could have edited out most of the Roma wine promos.
