Story
Valerius isn't a popular Dark-Hunter - he's a Roman, which means that the largely Greek Hunters have a major grudge against him and his civilization for superceding them. So it serves him right when he runs into Tabitha Devereaux. She's sassy, sexy, and completely unwilling to take him seriously. (Not to mention that she's the twin sister of the wife of former Dark-Hunter Kyrian - Val's mortal enemy.) What Tabitha does take seriously is hunting and killing vampires....

As a love slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and, most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and into the world. She taught me to love again. But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone.

Oh My Gosh
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The narrator! She is horrible and her voice is so annoying there is no way I will be listenting to this book and this is just the beginning. This narrotor doesn't know the difference between a Louisiana accent 'creole' and a southern belle 'naselly voice'.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The story line appears to be great but i can't get past that narrators voice.
What didn’t you like about Carrington MacDuffie’s performance?
YIKES
Could you see Night Pleasures being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Maybe
Any additional comments?
Need to be able to change narrators.

I think my ears are bleeding
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
How do I know who would enjoy this book. I have no problem with the story its the narrator that ruined it for me.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
All of these stories end the same way, that is not really the point, at least not for me.
What didn’t you like about Carrington MacDuffie’s performance?
Kyiran, is from Greece right? She has him sounding like Dracula, its very off putting. And don't get me started on the woman's accent. I have never been to New Orleans, but I hope like hell if I ever go everyone doesn't sound like that.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment at wasting my money. This auto book is unbearable to listen to, I couldn't even finish it. I will just read the book instead.
Any additional comments?
I, of course, do not know how narrating a book is done, but I have heard there is someone directing it, why in the hell do they not hear how bad the accents are? Why don't they put a stop to it before they ruin the whole book and I have to sit here, feeling robbed because someone didn't speak up? Just asking.

An Interesting Twist to the Vampire Story
BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) - This book was a "good" listen, and had some interesting twists, but never really hooked me to the point where I had to listen to it everywhere I went to see what was going to happen next.
Plot: The baseline plot of this book (and I presume the series) is a love story, between you guessed it a human female and a vampire. The difference is there is an element of greek mythology and other god-like beings that round out the fight against good and evil. There was a good balance between love story and the good vs evil and the author did a good job of bringing it all together at the end.
Narrator: Pretty Bad! Not bad enough that I couldn't finish but I'm pretty sure I would have liked the book (and perhaps rated it higher) if there was a different reader. I found the readers voice to be pitchy and down right painful to my ears when she'd change voices for different characters. The book is set in New Orleans and her awful attempt at accents and male voices made it difficult to listen to. I liked the plot enough to make it through the whole book and even though Ms. MacDuffie reads the second book I'll listen to it in order to get to the 3rd and 4th where they change narrators!!!

REALLY!!??
First, the name under reviewer is actually my husband's name. I just wanted to make it clear that a woman is writing this review. Second, I NEVER write reviews for books but, this one I couldn't let pass. I am very thankful that I read/listened to Fantasy Lover before Night Pleasures. After reading the other reviews for this book, I decided to give it a shot anyway...some people are just natuarally negative. I should have saved my credits! My eyes rolled so much, I thought I may be permantly deformed. This is quite possibly the worst narration I've ever heard (and I've listened to 100's of books). I found myself saying "blah, blah, blah" outloud, multiple times. Which, in itself, is quite frankly insane. That just goes to show you how ridiculous the narration is. Unfortunately, it's not only the narration that bothered me. The "instant connection" between the 2 main characters is so forced, contradictory and unrealistic, I could hardly stomach it. After reading 3 chapters, I was unbelievably bored. So, I jumped forward in the series to read Acheron...I am very happy I did! Now I'm finishing this novel...but ONLY to get the backstory for subsequent novels. Not Kenyon's best work but a necessary "evil" for continuing on in the series. Holton Graham is brilliant in narrating her more recent novels in the Dark-Hunter Series. A bit nasal at times but, incredibly entertaining. Save your credits and use them for Acheron, Bad Moon Rising and Devil May Cry. I'm curious to see how Maggie-Meg Reed does with Dark Side of the Moon...

Where is the plot?
I thought this was going to be a book about vampires, the supernatural or something interesting. Instead for the first 2 hours there is 5 minutes of actual plot and the rest is the two leads describing in obsessive detail how hot they are for each other. Repeatedly. Was Sherrilyn Kenyon being paid by the word?

Give us more "Hunter" books!
This is my favorite fantasy/romance series. I have read all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Hunter" books and I was thrilled to find some of the earlier books (that made me a devoted fan of hers) on Audio. If you like this genre don't hesitate. You won't be sorry. Pretty soon you will be collecting all of the "Hunter" books you can find.

Not my cup of tea
Wow...I did not like this book. A friend recommended this book to me and maybe it is better on the printed page, but I did not like the audio version. The narrator was slow and I kept wanting to try to drag the words out of her mouth. Also, the content of the book was just trashy. I am all for a good romance and enjoy urban fantasy, but this was just sex. Not a great plot. No character building. Just characters constantly panting for each other.

Night Pleasures
The book was so awesome but this reader completely destroyed it! When did Kyrian develop a Russian accent? If the reader wanted to add accents, try a Greek one! Otherwise, just read the book. This book is terrific all by itself and doesn't need a reader's "help" to improve it. I didn't get past chapter 5 because the reader was just so awful. If you love Shari's books like I do - don't get this. The book is just destroyed!

Great series
Am I the only guy that reads these books? All reviews are from women so I'll give my opinion. Narrator is good, lots of action, and lots of VERY detailed, passionate love scenes. Honestly I think the author is definatly a nymph, and I love it! Cant help but wonder what my neighbors think when im cleaning house and blaring these books on my surround sound. Apart from the frequent love scenes theres alot of mythology to turn guys on to this series so try it, you wont be dissapointed
