Publisher's Summary
At 14, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough and savvy, his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends - until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.
Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil for a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead. But before he can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh-eating zombies. And he’s next on the menu. Like starting high school isn't hard enough!
Now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chainsaw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that?

Fantastic Prequel/Sequel to the Dark Hunter Series
This story of Nick's early life and entree into the Dark Hunter world is more than any Dark Hunter fan could have dreamed of. It provides the details of Nick's earliest experiences with Kirian and so much more. It is only to be expected that a book featuring the wise-cracking Nick would be funny, but many times it was outright hilarious and I laughed out loud--so don't listen to this while in a crowd with your iPod unless you don't mind people thinking you're downright crazy. We get introduced to a slew of wacky and lovable, not to mention hysterically funny characters. Bubba and Mark are two standouts because you can't help loving guys who deal guns and computers while hunting zombies on the side and aren't afraid to go after them with a rocket launcher or baseball bat, whichever is closest at hand. There is so much action and so much to laugh about it's almost impossible to stop listenning. Dark Hunter fans should know that this story isn't really a prequel in the strictest sense because... well, the ending explains so I won't.
One drawback, though not enough to lose a star, is that the narrator departs from previous pronunciation of Acheron, saying it like Ackeron, which aggravated me to no end. This may be correct, who knows, but it seems weird that Acheron would have the nickname Ash if the new pronunciation is correct. A huge drawback is that while Nick is definitely a Cajun, the narrator doesn't manage even a hint of an accent. Still, it's better to do no accent than a bad one. Also, he doesn't even hint at a Greek accent for Kirian and gives Ash a deep growly voice that doesn't feel like our Ash. Ah well, nobody's perfect I guess.
Whether you want more Dark Hunters or just a really good story with some really great action and huge laughs, Infinity is well worth the read.

Lost . . .
Okay. So I'm seriously having a hard time rating this book. The author is a talented writer with a witty sense of humor and fun characters, but there is so much going on, and the book is so all over the place I just feel completely lost after reading it. After researching information about the author I think this is supposed to be based on another series? That's grand and all, but what about those of us who haven't read the other series? I just feel . . . lost. At the beginning I loved it, mid way I was scratching my head, the end there were so many characters I couldn't remember who was who.
Sigh . . . I was so into this at first and I feel disappointed. I might try to read the other books by Kenyon so I might be able to understand this series better because I liked the writing so much.

Young Adult Urban Fantasy
I'm still unsure about this book, it was a fast read and by the time I got to the end I almost felt like something was missing.
This was a different take from what I've read recently from urban fantasy, a teenage monster hunter. This book is also filled with awesome and fun loving characters. And for that reason alone I'll probably read the next book just to see what happens to the characters.
Also the blurb has a little bit of false advertising. He doesn't get along with his principle, but he never keeps a chain saw in his locker or has to hide it from the principle. Also the majority of this book takes place over one night, which also contributes to the feeling that a lot is happening to fast.
This book would probably be enjoyed more by young adults, but I will warn you that Nick's mom is an exotic dancer so there are a few parts of the book that have some questionable parts for a young adult to read.
The narrator does an amazing job though! Perfect Narration!
EDIT: After reading the next two books in the series, I realized the series is amazing!!! It's just that this book is kind of a slow start to an amazing series!

50% Good, 30% Silly, 20% not sure what's going on
Seriously, this book has me flip flopping. 50% of the time I liked it... 30% of the time I thought it was silly, and 20% of the time I didn't know what the hell was going on. Seriously, it lost me. There is a point where one of the characters seemed to be talking to himself in the future. There are random warnings about characters that haven't been introduced yet. So I'm like, who the hell are they talking about??? Turns iut, 4 chapters later that character comes into the story.
I got the feeling that the author started this book using the "Free-style" style writing technique. It's when you sit and write whatever the hell comes to your mind. And this book is so random and chaotic that it's gotta be the conception of free styling. One chapter you think it's about demons and angels... then BOOK is a zombie apocalypse.... them in tge middle of the Zombie apocalypse the winged monkeys from The Wizard of Oz show up... WTH??? I'm so serious... the book went Wizard of Oz in the middle of a fight scene!!!
Let me also add that hundreds of zombies are attacking this group, but no one but them really seems to notice. No police, no adults, just them... really?
Now there were some good parts to the story and reason I kept with it. The concept of the main story is around this teenager, Nick, who is going to eventually turn into a powerful being of some sort. All sides of the spectrum are trying to influence/control him to ensure he comes to their side. This is the part of the book I really like. I wish this was the main focus of the books without the zombies and other distractors. This itself makes for an excellent book.
Instead I felt like the story was a bit schizophrenic. It was trying to tell too any stories at once and none of it really seemed to feed off of anything... so you're just left with this feeling of randomness.
I found this book by looking through novels narrated by Holter Graham. Holter does a great job with the characters. Another thing, this seemed like a lot of characters for a first book.
Who would enjoy this book?...If you are O.C.D or don't like books that go back and forth in time, then this is not for you. If you like a wild story that keeps you guessing then you'll enjoy.

Dark Hunters Univers Alternative Timeline
I read almost all of the books from the dark hunter series, when I found out about this series.
Dark hunter series is for mature audience, and this book is intended for teens.
The book is really good, one of the minor characters in DHUniverse is brought to us as the main hero, with the help of time travel, magic, and godhood powers of the author.
if you haven't read any of the of the DH books before , unfortunately you will miss about 15% of funny and interesting moments in the book, but without any doubt you will enjoy it.
PS
New Star Trek movie and this book have something similar.
Just like ST universe DH universe had more than 20 books and everything was explained and going towards happy ending, but suddenly Vulcan was destroyed and they are no longer major power,so What will happen differently?
Something similar happened in DH universe, and in my opinion it made the universe more exciting.

Funny and good listening
This is a good book and a good start to a series I am looking forward to working my way through! It made me laugh out loud on several occasions and I liked the message of good over evil and that bullying can actually make you stronger and not just a victim. I would not say this is a novel that is appropriate for younger kids - not because of bad language - but because of references to females and sexual innuendos that might cause endless questions and/or some embarrassment if listening to this together!!! Overall this is very entertaining and I am truly glad I bought this book!

Fun book for junior adults or adults
I enjoy listening to young adult / teen books, though I'm well past my young adult years. In this book, good guys are sometimes bad, and bad guys sometimes do good. The ending left me interested to learn more in the next book. Sherilyn Kenyon has done a good job translating her series for adults into the YA market. Lots of action, though sometimes the main character seemed a lot "older" than 14 in his reasoning and abilities, which was jarring. Lots of fun characters, including Bubba the genius-IQ, MIT-degreed zombie killer and his sidekick Mark. I'm not a fan of "we can't explain it with science, so let's just say it's magic," which occurred a good bit in the book. The relationship between Nick and his mom is central to the book, and SK does a very good job with it.
