Story
Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

You belong to me and I know it down deep, in muscle and bone, where my wolf lives. Avery Rhine isn’t an average homicide detective with the Chicago PD. In fact, Avery isn’t an average anything. Sure, as an omega he knows he’s at the bottom of the food chain, but that’s never slowed him down. He’s got a great life, complete with a loving family and a best friend who’d take a bullet for him, so what more could he possibly want or need? Except, maybe, for the world to change.

When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Publisher's Summary
There's no leverage like seduction...until love takes a bite of his plans.
As the Indiana Jones of historical erotica, there is no document existing - or just rumored to exist - Adin Tredeger can't unearth. Why he would risk the biggest coup of his career to join the mile-high club is beyond him. But the disarming, dark-eyed man who somehow enters Adin's locked airplane washroom has him completely nude and coming apart. All without a whimper of protest.
From that moment Adin and Donte Fedelta engage in an international battle of wit and cunning. The prize - a priceless, 500-year-old journal with illustrations so erotic it could make the Marquis de Sade blush. Yet Donte's desire for the journal goes far beyond simple possession. The undead nobleman wrote it. And he's not above using every trick in his otherworldly arsenal - including seduction - to get it back.
Chemistry draws them together even as fortune tugs them apart. But when a third party joins the chase, they must unite to fight an enemy with a deadly goal - to erase Donte from history.
This audiobook is a rerelease of a previously published book, with substantial rewrites. This title was originally released as Notturno.
Warning: This product contains one cocky college professor, one centuries-old vampire who is out to show him who's at the top of the food chain, and red wine. Because it goes so well with humble pie.

Starts with a male on male rape ...
Your definition of rape may be different than mine, but compliance to sex under vampiric thrall is non-consensual sex -- it's drugged sex. Since that's the way the first book in the series started, I'm passing on all of them.

Better in audio format
Any additional comments?
4.5 stars
I read the ebook several months before the audio version was released. It was 3.5 story for me, which I upped to 4 stars in my review. Upon experiencing it on audio, I'm upping the rating to 4.5 stars for a perfect narration that truly brought the story to life. I still appreciated the nicely developed characters and colorful secondary characters, that it was very well written and edited, and was dark without being morose. The long journal passages from Notturno that nearly bored me to death in the book took on a wholly different light when read aloud in a decent Italian accent. They were so beautiful presented this way and changed my perception of Donte.
More enjoyable in audio format!

Self center Vampire & a Nerdy Human
Okay, Donte stating over & over again he was a predator & that Adin is just prey got on my last nerve. And Donte is 500 years old and he still hasn't gotten over Auselmo. Okay, probably don't get over, but all his focus is Auselmo. I didn't really feel the love between these two. I'm hoping that it pops up in the next book.

DNF
This was a DNF for me. I got an hour and a half into it and just couldn't do it anymore. There was a non consensual situation that just pushed me over into the nope territory.
I didn't really care for either of the characters, and add on to that there was too much sex/sexual tension to keep in interested. It just seemed like fairly flat characters who just wanted to have sex, and I couldn't imagine them actually developing a relationship.

Well I loved it!!
It was an easy listen good drama action a great start to the series I hope all the books will be in audio...
Narration was good really enjoyed, as this is first time I have heard from this narrator I was a bit iffy in buying but have to say I really was happy with the work he did.
I'm not sure what the other reviews were about, yes it wasn't the best story for this author but what do you expect for vampire story they are all corny when it comes down to the HEA, I would listen or read again I think it's just the beginning for these characters and there is so much more to tell..
Awesome work please put the rest of this series in audio as you can't have the teaser at the end of this and not finish..

Good, not Great!
This was a good m/m vampire story... not great... not even a repeat listen. There was a fair amount of action, but the romance was... well lets just say boring... Even the bad guy turned out to be a decent guys... so eh... IDK... maybe a credit... not a sale or even a buy...
Narration was ok... I have heard better...

Good, but...
I loved this book but Adin is kind of pathetic. He is a strong character but allows Donte to abuse him and his love in a most abominable way and then without even a bit of scorn takes the vampire back. Donte barely apologizes before Adin is throwing himself at him. When it comes to Donte Adin has no self respect. It’s sad and I won’t be listening to another crap on Adin fest.

All The Feels!
The ending here deserved tears and smiles at how sweet and impactful one of the character's actions were. The whole book was full of similar moments of alternating sweetness and humour and a deep, deep feeling of love between the characters which is always difficult to find in a novel without it seeming cheap or cheesy. Not since Alice Winter's Hitman series has a book hit me squarely in the feels and made me HAVE to read the rest of their journey. It also doesn't hurt to have a vague knowledge of italian or google translate handy so none of the endearments pass you by.
