Discover more DI Tom Reynolds with the next book in the series, Beneath the Surface.

It's true what they say...revenge is sweet.

It's 1975. A baby, minutes old, is forcibly taken from its devastated mother. In 2010, the body of an elderly woman is found in a Dublin public park in the depths of winter.

Detective Inspector Tom Reynolds is working the case. He's convinced the murder is linked to historical events that took place in the notorious Magdalene Laundries. Reynolds and his team follow the trail to an isolated convent in the Irish countryside. But once inside, it becomes disturbingly clear that the killer is amongst them...and is determined to exact further vengeance for the sins of the past.

Gripping

My first novel by this author and I was not disappointed. Interesting characters and a well thought out plot that keep me guessing. Good balance of backstory for the detective team and setting and context for the story as a whole. Enjoyed the narration too.

Gripping, thrilling, excellently written.

Where does With Our Blessing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audiobook had me gripped from start to finish.

What other book might you compare With Our Blessing to, and why?

I normally am not a fan of fiction, but this story was so realistic I found it easy to listen to.

Have you listened to any of Aoife McMahon’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No, but I was impressed with her storytelling abilities.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The past can haunt the present.

A history lesson in a well written work of fiction

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. The intertwining stories surrounding life and childbirth emphasised how individual.every one's story is. Narrated excellently too with enough nuance for each character to make them identifiable. Cant wait to start the next one.

Lost the will to go on!

Never read anything by this author before so did not what to expect, but rapidly lost interest in any characters and frankly found the reader's accent hard to follow and slightly annoying. Did not get past the first few chapters. Will not be buying this author again, I am afraid.

I am getting a bit bored with substandard books and narrators but I was suprised by this book - as having gone to Ireland and been to one of these (homes!! ) for unmarried woman and work houses I found this book interesting and having a really good plot - will try more of this author

Fabulous read!

Loved this book and the fact that I kept guessing the wrong solution!! Also loved the historical context and learning more about a recent past period of time - 60s and 70s in Ireland. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
