Publisher's Summary

The gripping new psychological thriller from the author of Do Me No Harm. For fans of C. L. Taylor and Clare Mackintosh.

Two women, two secrets, one murder...

If someone took away your perfect life, how far would you go to get it back?

Ellen's family is her world. So when her husband leaves her for another woman, she is almost destroyed. But not quite, because Ellen has a plan, a way to make those who have hurt her suffer.

Leila is the other woman. She finally has everything she ever wanted. But Leila's brother has come back into her life, raking up a past that needs to stay buried. One of them will pay for their actions with their life, but which one?

    "Original and compelling!"

I wasn't at all sure about this book in the early chapters, but once the characters were fleshed out, it got going and how! The two main protagonists, both women, are very well drawn. One is particularly complex, one has hidden depths. The story is original, keeping the listener/reader on their toes. There are several unexpected events and the ending is satisfying. A warning though, there is some pretty gruesome animal abuse here. Once I had a flavour of it, I fast forwarded those moments.

I have not heard this narrator previously. Her performance here is excellent and I will look out for her in the future.

    "Poor ending"

The book starts with what you think is going to be a great revenge / get my own back book. All the way through you're waiting for the next bit, mysterious stories give the promises of something bad and surprising. At the end though you think the writer just gave up, the two who should be at revengeful loggerheads just say Hello and how are you doing kind of thing and that's it. It was a major let down, left me feeling cheated

    "Couldn't stop listening!"

Good wee psychological thriller. Nothing particularly new but good quality, and the narration is excellent.

    "Very good"

Really well narrated, one of the best yet and makes such a difference. Good story with the odd twist. Nice easy listening.

    "Good twists slow to start"

It started off slow but the narrative was good and good character build. Lots of twists but the animal cruelty elements not needed especially the graphic nature of them.

    "awful"

I wanted to enjoy this but found it laborious, genuinely hard work on account of poorly-developed characters, a plot that went on & on & on, stretching all kinds of credibility & amateur & infinitely pedantic narration. This is an ambitious piece, but absolutely fails to deliver. I could not recommend - in fact I'd advise 'don't touch' ..

    "Original storyline but very bleak"

This book is wonderfully written and you really feel understanding for the two main characters.
I was left a little disappointed by its ending though as it wasn't what I would have liked to happen.
I would read/ listen to more books from this author.
    The narrator was excellent.

Only comment is the lack of differentiation in the voices of the two female characters. Otherwise very well read.
