Minerva Peabody needs a man. Unfortunately she picked the wrong one. The impoverished playwright has a dream to see her plays performed on stage, but in Elizabethan England, not only are women considered the inferior sex, they simply do not write plays. Faced with rejection after rejection, she decides to take one more chance with the most desperate theater manager in London, only this time she’ll use the cover of a man. Sucked in by a pair of bright blue eyes and impressive shoulders, she chooses Blake out of the crowd, never thinking he’ll actually play an active role in her ruse.

As their war of words escalates, London's most popular satirical cartoonist, A. J. Quill, skewers them both.

Enjoyable
The progression of the underlying story, while seeming slow by “book standards,” follows a more real progression for the time and events happening in the series. I very much enjoyed it.

The saga continues
Chronos finally arrives on the scene. He is the vehicle that moves the story forward. The narration is excellent as in the previous books.

My son and I are hooked...
My son and I have absolutely enjoyed the unfolding stories of India Steele and Matt Glass. We are hooked and have listening to books 1-8 and are anticipating the day Book 9 will be available on Audible...

Magicians everywhere
Matthew Glass and India Steele continue their search for the mysterious Chronos and discover a magical apothecary who is murdered. But why? Is it to do with Lord Coyle and his henchmen? or the newsman, Barratt? Or something else?
You have read it to find out if the blossoming love between India and Matthew continues....

passing of time and mystery
The fullness of characters and time and emotions were voiced so well it made one feel like you were right there. the narrator did so fantastic going from accents to different characters. This author has me guessing right along, my new favorite series. thank you.
