Publisher's summary

John Milton is trying to make amends for a career spent killing for the British Secret Service. He has a burning need to right wrongs - and rewrite his own bloody past. He finds himself in Louisiana, the Big Sleazy, the bayou, and the post-Katrina wreckage of the Gulf Coast with a debt of honor to repay.

Isadora Bartholomew, who saved his partner's life, needs his help. Joel Babineaux, a ruthless property magnate, is out to sink the charity she established to help rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward.

Just when Milton thinks he has neutralised Babineaux's scheming, a dangerous man from his past takes an unhealthy interest in his present. Claude Boon used to work for the Mossad and might be more than Milton can handle. And then the stakes get even higher....

Salvation Row is the most explosive thriller yet in Mark Dawson's best-selling John Milton series. It's a book no self-respecting suspense fan will want to be without.

Number one?

For someone who is supposed to be the 'best' assassin of his day, John Milton is pretty weak. He is continually getting his trash kicked. This is an improvement on the last story. It had some inconsistencies with regards to his characters abilities but I guess it makes his characters more human. The setting is post Katrina Nawlin's which is described well.

Milton does it again

I love listening to the John Milton stories, an assassin who does good wherever he goes while taking care of the problem along the way!

Intense!

Milton meets his match in this novel full of plot twists and suspense. His own arrogance is almost his downfall. He's still trying to atone for his past sins and gets involved with a beautiful woman and the corrupt men who intend to destroy everything she's worked for. His past comes back to haunt him in the form of a fellow assassin. I absolutely love the narration of David Thorpe! His voice inflection and pronounciation of words is more than enough to keep my attention. Looking forward to the next installment.

David Thorpe is one of the best narrators there is

David Thorpe is one of the best narrators there is. After listening to "The Cleaner" I thought Mark Dawson's work was excellent. David Thorpe's performance draws you in and his different character voices never leave you wondering who is actually talking. Worth every cent. Looking forward to the next one.

Another winner from Mark Dawson!

If you really want to get to know John Milton, just listen to his awesome Playlist...the Smiths, Artic Monkey, Queens of the Stone Age, Happy Mondays, Stones Roses, The Morriseys, etc. Milton's anthem is " How Soon is Now" by the Smiths.

The overall premise is a little shaky

Milton is still great. The situation he finds himself in this time however, feels very forced. Evil rich guy, corrupt politicians and police, all very cliche and shoehorned into the story.

Another hit

Dawson has hit his stride. Nothing stops the adrenaline. Fast action, justice prevails, character continues to grow. What more can you ask? Even the reader had better American accents this time out,( pretty bad in earlier reads),
Intend to read his two other series. All six of these were really enjoyable for action, survival readers. I will say the fifth, Sword of God, was the best to me.
