Good Christian Romantic Thriller

I wasn't aware beforehand that this was a Christian story but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of it. Sometimes it's just nice to listen to romantic suspense without the language and graphic sex. The religious aspect wasn't so overpowering that I was offended or put off. I enjoyed the story's twists and turns, as well as the suspense and romance elements. Alex and Royce were very likeable characters and deserved to find happiness. Leonor A. Woodworth as narrator portrayed the characters and story well, giving a great performance. Out of the Darkness was a very pleasurable listening experience and I would recommend it.

Surprise - Religion!

I'm not a huge fan of religious dogma in my thrillers and would have been much more open to it had I been warned in the description. This isn't a 'light' Christian thriller, either - one of the main threads throughout is the faith of the protagonist. Now, I am much more interested in her attempts to avoid the serial killer, and even her budding romance, than I am about her faith. In fact, that interests me not at all.

That said, I was able to enjoy the story and thought it was fairly well written. Woodworth delivers a fantastic performance in the narration - it might be worth a listen just for that. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this book to my friends because of the heavy religious aspect.

Good Christian Mystery

I was pulled into this book from the very beginning. I did not know it was a christian mystery when I started listening to it. That said, I did not find anything objectionable. The story was well written with some unexpected twists. The author did a very good job with the imagery and suspense. I thought the narrator did a good performance with the emotions and tension in the story. I did not always hear distinguishable characters in this story though. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would continue to listen to more books by this author and narrator in the future.

Out of the Darkness

Anne Patrick has another great romantic mystery.

Alex loved her work for the FBI, but a serial killer has stolen that from her.
As Alex tries to disappear from coworkers and the situation, she hitches a ride with a truck driver and finds a job as his office assistant. Living a normal life appeals to Alex, especially if it includes Royce and his son.
Royce has his own past and doesn't push Alex about hers, but quietly supports her as she works through her nightmares but her nightmare is coming after her, pulling her from her safe seclusion.

Anne Patrick has a way of creating a story with the right balance of suspense and romance without offensive language.

Lenor Woodworth has a smooth voice that draws you in with each character she portrays.

Out Of Darkness

Out of the Darkness
: Anne Patrick

FBI profiler Alex Michaels is on the run from a serial killer while still trying to catch him. A clean Christian suspense novel with romance in the works. Faith is challenged, trust needs to be re-gained and possibly a new life to begin. A very good book.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.Leonor A Woodworth gives a fine performance.

Religion in the mix.

Well, that was unexpected. The book has a huge dollop of religion mixed in. Not just a passing mention. Nowhere in the amazon page did it mention that Alex or her boyfriend are religious people and that's how they connected and that that will be a constant theme throughout the book. :( I like my mystery / thriller books to be free of religion, unless of course the murder was committed for religious reasons.

That aspect kinda overshadowed the story. The main focus of the story - the chase by the killer - was still interesting. The main three characters are written very well and are relatable. (other than the religious aspect). I wish rest of the characters weren't so cardboard-y though.

The narration was alright and didn't distract from the story.

Enjoyable.

This was a very enjoyable thriller. An ex-FBI profiler is on the run from a serial killer and meets a trucker who takes her to a new life, with the killer is on her trail. It was an interesting mystery, with a touch of romance as the two become closer. There was an underlying Christian element, which usually I don't care for, however it didn't distract from the story and I still really enjoyed it. The narrator did a great job with all the characters and I had no problem following conversations. I will certainly listen to more by this author and narrator.
