Publisher's Summary

Hairstylist Marla Shore joins a fitness club to get in shape, but discovers a dead body instead of an exercise routine. Jolene Myers, a client at Marla's salon, has drowned beneath the frothing waters of the whirlpool.

When Detective Dalton Vail determines Jolene's death was no accident, Marla decides to give her deductive skills a workout and help solve the case. Jolene had few friends at the fancy athletic club.

As Marla gets to know everyone, she wonders who might have targeted Jolene for a lethal soak in the hot tub. When another member turns up dead, she intensifies her efforts to nail the killer and wrap the case. If she fails, the next buff body on its way to the morgue might be hers.

    "Another fun cozy!"

I really enjoy this series! Marla makes the series for me, because she's the perfect sleuth. She's brave but she isn't stupid (like a lot of cozy heroines can be). She's smart, but not an overwhelming snooty kind of smart. She's kind, but she's also sassy. I root for her & I love her big heart. She investigates with humor and overall it's a great series. I think a big part of this is the narrator, who does a great job of differentiating characters & giving life to Marla.
There are some unexpected twists, but it was still fun to play around and guess who the murder is. It took me until close to the end, but I figured it out & the solution seemed realistic. I look forward to the next book in this series.

    "Fun cozy mystery"

This is a fun cozy mystery. I've read the previous two books in the series and enjoyed them as well. I love seeing the world through the eyes of a hair stylist. Its fun to hear all of Marla's thought about how people's hairstyles flatter them (or don't). Its such a different perspective for me, which is why I think its fun. The mystery was good (though I think I preferred the previous two slightly more). I listened to the Audible audio version of the book and I really enjoyed the narrator, Mary Ann Jacobs. She really gave a lot of life to the characters. If you want a fun, easy read, I recommend this series.

    "Entertaining who dunnit"
What made the experience of listening to Murder by Manicure the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the mystery which was interesting and complex. I also liked all the subterfuge Marla and her friends got up to in order to find out information pertaining to their investigation. I loved the humour involved in Marla and her faux fiancé's double date.

What I enjoyed most though was the suspense and the dangerous situations Marla got herself into. These scenes really had me glued to the story although I felt that she should have told the police after her first attack occurred as it was such a serious incident and she was left shaken up.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoy Marla. She always seems to land herself in bother and a dead body is sure to pop up at the most inopportune times.
She is quite a humorous character and I love how she mentally analyses people's hair and makeup etc and considers what she would do improve their style.

What about Mary Ann Jacobs’s performance did you like?

Mary Ann Jacob does a splendid job with the narration of this series and I can't wait to hear more.

    "WHAT A TREAT!"

Marla finds herself in yet another murder mystery and I can't help but enjoy every second of it. If you've read the other two books in the series then you already know the author and her characters will not disappoint. If you haven't already read or listened to one of the books in the series don't worry you will still enjoy this book and want to read or listen to the others.
