Publisher's Summary

Any wedding is a big deal in the small village of Kilbane - even more so when the bride is a famous fashion model. It's also good for business; Siobhan O'Sullivan's bistro will be catering the three-day affair. When the drunken best man is disinvited, Siobhan's own beau, Macdara, gladly steps in. But finding the original best man murdered in the woods casts a pall over the nuptials. And when a second member of the wedding party is poisoned, Macdara goes from being best man to prime suspect. With a killer at large and a string of robberies plaguing Kilbane, Siobhan vows to clear Macdara's name. But like the bride walking down the aisle, Siobhan needs to watch her step.

Great Book

I enjoyed this book. Although Siobhan is a bit annoying at times, she's smart and likable. The plot is well developed and has enough twists and turns to keep listeners/readers interested and entertained throughout the book.

After the first chapter I had decided that I

would never listen to another one of this author's books. However, having been fooled before, I decided to finish this book and was pleasantly surprised by how good the mystery was, how pleasant the narration was and how smart and intuitive the main character turned out to be (even though she remained immature, headstrong and impulsive).I would recommend these two books.

A bit too unbelievable

What would have made Murder at an Irish Wedding better?

I enjoyed the 1st book. Light and enjoyable story.
There was no character development and I was not brought to care for any of the characters that I did not already know from the 1st book.
I found the series of events in this book just too unbelievable. There was virtually no police investigation and there is no way Siobhan could have gotten away with the events as they transpired. I spent of lot of time while listening speaking out loud that there was NO WAY this or that could have occurred.

Would you ever listen to anything by Carlene O'Connor again?

Probably not

Which character – as performed by Caroline Lennon – was your favorite?

I liked all the character voices but Siobhan would be my favorite having gotten to know her in the first book.

Any additional comments?

Disappointing

The Protagonist Would Be In Jail for Obstruction..

This author seems to have read way too many cheesy, dime store, detective novels and watched too many soap operas, but then used mismatched parts of them like a poorly planned quilt. She seems to be picking stock literary devices at random to develop the plot. The Protagonist is an immature girl who withholds information from the police, masquerades as a detective, speculates about conclusions before there is any evidence (almost before the book has even started), and thinks she is super smart and informed despite behaving illegally and illogically. The author is inconsistent in her character development. The characters are concerned about not tampering with evidence when necessary to drive the plot despite having rampantly tampered with evidence. They withhold information when handy for the plot, but are honest when handy for the plot... etc. It's like the author is well informed about quaint things and melodrama, but it's completely illogical and maybe not all that smart. The writing is basically just lazy and low quality, given that it's a detective novel. The style might have been fine had she stuck to a plot and genera that aren't dependent on logic-- maybe she should re-purpose herself as a romance author or quaint historical author. FYI-- this was painful enough that I listened to it at 120% to 170% normal speed.

Love this series

Great story, great narration, very complex and entertaining. The narrator is wonderful and truly adds dimension to the story.

Another great book

Any more? they are great for a non- horrific who done it.

1st one was good to. Actually, the 1st one was hilarious. Reminded me of my crazy family. And a bonus, the author and narrator did an excellent job of not making the children annoying. A bonus in any genre. So many get it wrong. Brava.

Enjoyable

Found the plot a bit of a stretch, but the main characters are engaging. Wish the author had researched some aspects of Irish life a bit more. Some gaffes in relation to things concerning the church. Perhaps Ms. O'Connor needed to fudge some facts to fit the plot. I will continue reading to see what happens wjth the characters.

Main character is annoying and frustrating

Listened until chapter 5 and had to stop. The main character is so annoying and unbelievable that I couldn't listen anymore. I found myself becoming so frustrated with her and disliking her so much I had to stop.

Returned a book for refund for the first time and have been an audible listener for years. Also, disliked so much I felt compelled to write a review for the first time.

This is a wonderful book, with quick moves, a twisting storyline and an answer for all.
