Publisher's Summary

USA Today Best-Selling Author and Agatha Award-Winning Series

The Charleston streets are dressed for the holidays in sophisticated Southern style: topiaries adorned with red ribbons, garland entwined with white lights, and poinsettias potted in gold planters. The high-class bordello in a stately historic home is certainly no exception. When Private Investigator Liz Talbot's dear friend, Olivia, swears she saw a dead body in the parlor of this bordello, one Olivia accidentally co-owns, Liz promptly comes to her aid.

With her wedding back home on Stella Maris less than a week away, Liz must juggle one elderly madam, two ex and future in-laws, three ghosts in the bordello, four giddy bridesmaids, five lovely courtesans, six suspicious patrons...and a partridge in a pear tree as she tries to keep her bridesmaid out of jail and live to walk down the aisle.

"Liz Talbot Book 4 - Just Keeps Getting Better"

I thoroughly enjoy this series about private investigators Liz and Nate, their crazy families, friends and a ghost. The murder mystery was well written but the backbone of these books is the mature romantic relationship and business partnership between Liz and Nate.

Nate is one of my favorite male characters, a truly strong man who adores and supports Liz, while overlooking her flaws and appreciating her strengths. Since Liz was once married to Nate's brother, there are the occasional awkward moments as their wedding day arrives.

This is a wonderful series for women over 30 who enjoy romantic suspense with lots of humor, mild sexual content and absolutely no FSOG type domination. Nate actually loves and respects Liz (and vise versa).

    "I'm addicted to this series!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely. Wonderfully written, interesting and a fun cozy read.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    Yes!

Have you listened to any of Loretta Rawlins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The climax when they were finally married

    Any additional comments?

Living in South Carolina, just an hour south along the coast from Charleston, I love and can totally picture where Ms. Boyer takes us. Liz is a fantastic, likable, HUMAN character. she's made mistakes, isn't perfect and her and her partner make the perfect private detective partnership.

I enjoyed the seasonal setting and descriptions of the decorations, homes, downtown Charleston and Stella Maris. Finally these two lovebirds get married and it's fun to see them juggle getting ready for a wedding and working a case.

The plot was great, and Ms. Boyer writes flawlessly. everything just flows. I had such a tough time stopping for the night.

This series, which started out wonderfully just keeps getting better and better!!

I can't WAIT to see what the next adventure brings! I completely recommend this series to lovers of cozies. It had me laughing while still trying to figure out whodunit!

    "Ghost warning"

This was a recent BookBub ebook selection with an Audible companion under "Cozy Mysteries", so I bought it based on its Amazon, rather than its Audible, description.

It starts out fine -- a couple who are PI's trying to solve a case before their wedding in a few days. The main character talks about her deceased friend lending help occasionally. Uh-oh, not ghosts, I think. I can (barely) tolerate ghosts serving as conscience (Ian Rutledge) or appearing in the occasional dream (Scrooge's Christmas ghosts). I keep reading...

I'm giving up halfway through because ghosts have taken over the story. It is no longer a mystery, but goofy slapstick.

This has happened to me before! Book descriptions should mention when ghosts, witches, zombies, vampires, and other supernatural characters are involved. Being clear should help both fans of the genre and people like me, whose suspension of disbelief isn't willing to stretch that far, find books we enjoy.

At least it was discounted, so I didn't waste a credit!

    "another good one"

Another great performance by Loretta. Another great story from Susan that I can't wait til it turns into a movie or series. Liz's story is fun, loving and exciting.

    "Enjoyable as always"

I went into this book thinking I wasn't going to enjoy it as much as the others, but I ended up loving it. The first few chapters I wasn't sure of, but it did gain a steady pace and I was left unsure who did the deed. And of course, I enjoyed the wedding.

One issue I am finding with all the books is how attractive every single character is. They have Sweet Valley High syndrome where every person is the most gorgeous person you have ever seen, and every head turns when they walk into a room.

As far as the series, I would rank it my third favorite, out of four. I enjoyed it more than Lowcountry Bombshell, but less than the other two. Not by much though.

    "Cozy and twisty"

In between what I call "hard-core" thrillers and police procedural, I often need to take a mental break with something light-hearted, but still well-written.

Susan Boyer fills the bill with some laughs, good mystery plots, and very warm comforting southern locales and charm. Her books make me long to spend some time in the low country. She writes good dialogue, not too cutesy, and never moronic like some cozy writers. Thank you, Susan!

I'm so sad now I'm all caught up with Liz Talbot and have to wait for the next installment.

"Susan Boyer scores another winning story and Loretta Rawlins brings it to life!"

Yet another great Susan Boyer book, and the characters come to life with the great performance of Loretta Rawlins. You won't be disappointed!
