Publisher's summary

Jack Ryan Jr.--along with the covert warriors of the Campus--continues to uphold his legendary father’s legacy of courage and honor in this thriller from number one New York Times bestselling author Tom Clancy.

Privately training with special forces, he’s honing his combat skills to continue his work within the Campus, hunting down and eliminating terrorists wherever he can--even as Jack Ryan Sr. campaigns to become President of the United States again.

But what neither father nor son knows is that the political and personal have just become equally dangerous. A devout enemy of Jack Sr. launches a privately-funded vendetta to discredit him and connect him to a mysterious killing in his longtime ally John Clark’s past. All they have to do is catch him.

With Clark on the run, it’s up to Jack Jr. to stop a growing threat emerging in the Middle East, where a corrupt Pakistani general has entered into a deadly pact with a fanatical terrorist to procure four nuclear warheads they can use to blackmail any world power into submission--or face annihilation.

Frequent Listener

Lou did a great job on this book keeping the listener engaged and entertained with his narration. Tom does a great job spinning this tail. Probably a little deep in the details at times, might lose some readers, but for those of us who enjoy the action thriller, this won't let you down.

Greaney just keeps swearing

If you could sum up Locked On in three words, what would they be?

Love Clancy
Love the Ryan series
Absolutely love the narration

What the heck is up with swear-boy?!? I previewed one of Greaney's books and it's way worse but it kills me to have characters who used to clearly express themselves swear like they are illiterate thugs.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Locked On?

Not going to spoil the plot...

What does Lou Diamond Phillips bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a great natural flow, he adapts his voice to the rise and fall of sentences so that you can feel the building emotion and it feels totally authentic, not like someone is being a ham or fake dramatic. His girl voice can be a little 'breathy' which can make some of her scenes seem 'girly' but that's a pet peeve...he really does a beautiful job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The increased random swearing of some favorite characters was annoying me!

Any additional comments?

Clancy should go back to co-authoring with Grant Blackwood.

Great, but short...

The story is really great and riveting! But I miss the length of earlier books in the series and the endings. Here there are too many lose ends to get me to read the next book. Smart in a way but I miss the sense of completeness/achievement when everything got tied together in the end.

Another Clancy Block buster

What made the experience of listening to Locked On the most enjoyable?

Lou Dimond Phillips as the Narrator, one of the tough guys narrating a story about tought guy's, who better could you get? If you love action than this is your book.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I have always loved Clancy. As always it is a story with many threads woven in such away that you cannot see how things connect until the end. The only draw back was that the technology described by Clancy has always been existant but miniture spy robots on insect legs was a little CSI for me.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Lou Dimond Phillips speaks with a good pace, conveys the characters very well and has a very easy voice to listen to.

The World Isn"t That Simplistic

Any additional comments?

As the story goes it is a good drama with a lot of action, but having heard Mark Greaney's books I'm thinking he's probably the one who made the book more exciting. The big problem with Clancy books, and seems to be getting worse with every new book in the Jack Ryan series is that he's coming across as a tea bagger that puts the world into simplistic black and white catagories. If you have concerns about a military with over reaching power that can basically do whatever it wants....Then you're the problem so naturally anyone who thinks that way who has wealth and power would naturally try to bring down the government. I found myself thinking, "Come on Clancey...You have to pull your head out of that fox hole and see the real world." Damn shame...Could have been a much better book otherwise

I LOVE THIS BOOK AND THIS SERVICE!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Locked On to be better than the print version?

I love the book, and also the fact that it is narrated by Lou Diamond Phillips!! I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but the idea of having a book read to me while I relax, or even do housework is great. The price is nice too and I can get one free book per month. There are so many to choose from.

Try it! Its a great deal!! :)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Love all of them, especially the son.

What does Lou Diamond Phillips bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His sexy voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Same name as book.
