Terrific narrator!

amateur sleuth, women sleuths, murder investigation, cozy mystery

The publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers, several other reviewers have given a potted version of the plot. The author always gives a good twisty tale with no gratuitous erotica but with a solid plot and very realistic characters, and this one is a good example of her craft. So grab your caffeine, lounge a bit and enjoy!
I lucked out and got the audio delightfully narrated by Michelle Babb. If anyone can make a good book even better, it's Ms Babb!

A cozy mystery that's truly cozy

Darcy Campbell and her mother, Flora Tucker, are back in another murder mystery in Ventris County, Oklahoma.

In the midst of a violent storm, a stranger is murdered in an isolated and now-abandoned shack. Except this man is not a stranger; he is soon identified as Pat Harris's long-missing husband, Walter. Their son, Jasper, has, as he often does for reasons that make sense to him, vanished into the woods, making him by normal standards an obvious suspect.

When a friend is the next person to die, it gets harder and harder for Darcy to listen to the insistence of Grant, the local sheriff, that she leave the investigation to him and his deputy. The new preacher goes missing, Ventris River and Lee Creek are flooding, food is vanishing from the Jenkins twins' home--what's going on? Is the supernatural as well as human mischief involved?

I really like Darcy, Flora, and their neighbors and friends. We continue to learn more about the history that ties them to the Jenkins family, and Darcy, at loose ends since the death of her husband, which brought her back to Ventris County, is beginning to get her feet back under and find her new direction. It's an enjoyable mystery, and an enjoyable series.

As always, Michelle Babb does an excellent job narrating, putting life into all the characters.

Recommended.

Great Story With Perfect Narrator

Blanche Day Manos has crafted another great mystery in her Darcy and Flora series. Darcy and Flora are a well crafted daughter and mother living in a small town in Oklahoma. They are well rounded characters who still have room to grow. Darcy's love interest Grant is the county sheriff and her high school sweetheart. Grant is slowly growing and becoming a more prominent character that will and can grow in future books. The plot is intriguing and has lots of twist and turns. The story keeps you interested to the very end.
Michelle Babb is the perfect narrator for this series. She brings Darcy and Flora to life. Her overall performance helps keep you listening to the end.
I highly recommend this great book. The perfect cozy for anytime of day.

This audio book was very well written and preformed. Congrulations Darcy & Flora The two of you really put your heads together on this peice of excellent literary work. There are not many character's out here that have had me twisted up to the very end. I don't wont to ruin it for the next reader... so all I will say is what a wonderful thrill ride the series was for me. I feel as I though I just stepped off a Rollercoaster. Twists

I am starting to feel that I know all the regular characters quite well. I love the relationship between Darcy and her mother Flora along with all the neigbours. The pets even have a personality of their own. This was another cozy mystery that was very well narrated. Will there be others in the series? I hope so.

Another Good Story

Another captivating tale in the Darcy & Flora Mystery Series. I listened to this one on audio. It makes for such a nice easy listening experience. I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series that I listened to. Michelle Babb always does a great job of keeping her characters alive, while Blanche Day Manos does an equally great job of keeping readers on their toes.

Darcy and Flora are a delightful mother/daughter amateur sleuth team. I love Darcy’s determination to solve a crime, regardless of the sheriff’s annoyance. The sheriff happens to be her love interest as well. It makes for an interesting side storyline.

I’m hoping there will be more books in this series. They are quite enjoyable.

Hmm, just where did that pie go?

Grave Heritage, by Blanche Day Manos, is another great addition to the Darcy and Flora Cozy Mystery series. With a mystery man on Darcy's doorstep in the first scene, readers are drawn into this mystery right at the outset. And with a flood, missing sisters and a couple murders the story just keeps getting better and better. Just who was the mystery man and who is the new guitar-playing pastor at the church? How are they connected to the murders? Can Darcy and Flora solve this one without becoming victims themselves?
Narrator Michelle Babb does her usual great job of telling the story and bringing the characters to life. Another wonderful listen!

Another fun sleuthing story of Darcy and Flora!

Cozy mysteries aren't my first pick of genres, but I love these stories. Darcy and her mother, Flora are such warm, wonderful characters. I think we all wish we could get along with our mothers the way Darcy gets along with hers. Along with the warmth of their relationship, Ms. Manos throws in suspense, complicated relationships, mysterious people, innocent people who are suspected of crimes and Darcy's trying to deal with widowhood and being attracted to another man (or men).
The story is fast paced and easy to listen to. The narration by Michelle Babb is clear and fun to listen to. If you like cozy mysteries, I highly recommend this series.

Another good book

Another good book in the series. I did feel that it was a bit short, it could have been fleshed out a bit, but a good addition to the series.
