Publisher's summary

French Quarter Vendetta is an old fashioned whodunit. Set in historic, fun loving New Orleans, the plot untangles a tale of murder, mystery, betrayal and jealousy. Follow along as Lieutenant James "Gator" McNeal and his team wade through a list of suspects that include a union president, a state senator's wife, a jealous mistress, a spoiled stepson, an ambitious assistant, a union thug and even a street kid and two-bit drug dealer. Along the way you'll run into a strange, cryptic vision, the power of a gris-gris bag and even a voodoo curse. You won't be able to put it down until the very end when Gator brings everyone together and reveals the murderer.

GREAT !

FRENCH QUARTER VENDETTA BY GARY GRAYBILL NARRATED BY THEO HOLLAND is what we can call a plodding who done it. Lt James "Gator" McNeal and his team of homicide investigators are on the trail of who killed a state Senator. The pressure is on to solve it and McNeal will do everything in his power to go after the killer. Problem is, the body count keeps going up and someone decides to go after McNeal as well!

I love this series already even though its the first I've ever listen to . McNeal is son of wealthy parents but you'd never know unless you go out to a bar or restaurant and he picks up the tab for the entire group. McNeal is a down home cop just doing his job, catching bad guys and putting them in jail with a bit of humor and cajun luck! The narration, done by Theo Holland helps in making this a winner in my book!

Gator

This is the best mystery I have ever listened to. It has enough clues to keep you 100 percent interested in the story. Gator is smart he figured it out all The characters are good . This is a five star book. They need to be a ten star for books like this. This would make a good movie. This book does not get the recognition it needs.Theo Holland does a great job narraiting this book. If my review was any help will you please click the helpful link. Thank you

Love this series by Gary Graybill

This series is excellent. I love New Orleans and when I listen to these stories I can picture every place described. I can smell the smells and feel the air on my skin. I love the mystery and the twist and turns. Keeps you guessing till the end.
I love the slow southern methods of Gator.
My only regret is that Theo Holland did not narrate all of the series. He has a wonderful voice and absolutely perfect for this series. I'm sorry I could NOT listen to the narrator in Madi Gras Death Mask nor The Bourbon St Murders. If you could have Theo Holland read those two stories in the series, I would buy them again.
I'm hoping Murder Bayou Style will be released as an audible (with Theo Holland narrating).
More stories please.

A complex Case New Orleans Style

A pair of New Orleans police officers are tasked with solving a complex case involving the murder of a State Senator.
It took a little while before I became engrossed in the story, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it.

I especially enjoyed the New Orleans flavor: the language, the style, the people and their mentality. The narrator clearly understood this and did a good job of portraying the style of each character.

It Wasn't Voodoo

How many ways can you commit murder? Shooting seems too common; how about a radioactive cigar, poisoned chocolates, a little snake venom, or being fed to an alligator? This story has ingenious ways to murder starting with a senator, then two more , and possibly another person now missing. This has touches of noir and humor. I was gifted this from Audiobookworm for my honest review.

God, I love this story SO much!

First, a caveat: I'm truly fond of everything New Orleans: food, music, myths and culture. So this book was already hitting hard a lot of my buttons even before beginning it.

But then I listened to it, and it's simply great. A fantastic convoluted mystery, a great and lively sense of place and characters that are a true joy to meet.

The plot advance slowly but surely while we follow the leads with "Gator" McNeal and his team until we reach a very satisfying (and very 'a la Poirot') end.

The narration by Theo Holland is superb. Lots of characters and each one easy identifiable is, indeed, a very hard task, but he did it skillfully.

New Orleans Noir

A great police procedural with great characters, plenty of twists and turns & beignets! Having spent a lot of time in New Orleans, I always enjoy finding books or series set in that wonderful city. The author, Gary Graybill, does a great job with setting the atmosphere for the book with his descriptions of the area.

This book is full of plenty of murders and follows the Homicide detectives as they try to unravel the multiple threads. Add in descriptions of the French Quarter, Louisiana politics (always plenty of intrigue there!), great Cajun food and jazz music and you have a thoroughly enjoyable book.

The narrator, Theo Holland, does a good job and added a lot to the enjoyment of the book. The only thing I would change about his performance is that I would have liked to hear a narrator with a true New Orleans accent and Gator could have been more Cajun.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who likes police procedurals with plenty of murders and enough twists and turns to keep the listener engaged. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook through Audiobookworm and chose to review it.

Great crime book set in New Orleans

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There was so much going on which at times made it hard to keep track of who everyone was and what they were doing. However, if you pay attention....this book is wonderful. Action packed, interesting characters, and lots of twists and surprises. I loved it!!! Gator is a wonderful main character and the narrator really gave him southern charm and charisma. Theo Holland impressed me with how every character was distinctive and you could tell who they were by the voice. He definitely made you feel like you were standing in New Orleans following the crime scenes and investigation. I would highly recommend this book.

A good Mystery

French Quarter Vendetta was a well written and well narrated audio book with great sound quality. What really pulled me into to the story was the author's ability to bring the french quarter life in this audio book as someone who has vacationed there I can say that the author really did keep the scene accurate and realistic. I loved the mystery elements and I was surprised by the ending!

An entertaining southern mystery!

French Quarter Vendetta is a suspenseful thriller that is intriguing and well written. There are many twists and turns that form a believable plot. There is a lot of action and suspense to keep your interest piqued. The characters have good southern characteristics that fit right in with someone that lives in the south. Several different crimes happen throughout which in the end come together. It does seem to get a little confusing at times but overall it is a good and entertaining story.

Theo Holland does a good job with the narration. He has a clear and crisp voice that is easy to follow. I think he did a good job with lending the southern charm to the voices.

This is the first book that I have read by Gary Graybill and will certainly not be my last. I recommend French Quarter Vendetta to anyone that enjoys reading a suspense/thriller that will keep you entertained and guessing to the very end.
