Publisher's summary

Strange days....
Winter gripped the city. Terror gripped it, too. They found four corpses in four days, each more hideous than the last.

Strange nights....
At first the cops thought they were dealing with a psychopath. But soon they heard eerie sounds in the ventilation system - and saw unearthly silver eyes in the snow-slashed night.

Final hours....
In a city paralyzed by a blizzard, something watches, something stalks.

Awesome !!

This book keeps you at the edge of your seat just like most of Dean Koontz books do!! The guy who reads the book has an amazing talent and gives each character their own voice!! And for the creepy people of the book it gives your listening experience an exciting ride !!

Loved it!

He is one of my favorite writers and I'm really glad they are putting his older works on audio. I'm not into VooDoo but this book was a real page turner! It was very easy to listen to and the narrator did an Excellent job with the voices and "supernatural" sounds. I highly recommend this one.

Good Listen

The plot of this book is a little off the beat (concerning voodoo). However I still found this to be a good listen with a good pace and character development.
I gave it 4 starts because the ending (I thought) was a bit open, it didn't tie the ends as much as I would have liked. But overall this tale is suspenseful.

Christopher Lane does an excellent job as a narrator.

Edge of Your Seat Listen

This is one of those books that I would gladly listen to more than once. It is detailed without being drawn out or boring. I enjoyed the drama that unfolded around the hero's children who are at the heart of this story. If you love science fiction, you'll love this yarn about the supernatural. If you're curious about the supernatural, this one will whet your appetite. If you're a fan of Dean Koontz, he won't let you down. I feel as though he put some of his best efforts into this one.

a DEVILISH thrill ride......4 STARS~~~~

PLOT: Voodoo power scares up some goblins to come after a good guy. Thrills galore.

Jack has two small children that become the "target" of a Voodoo Master who summons the power of Evil and opens the gates of hell. Horrific yes. .....Jack is a policeman and widower. He becomes romantically linked to his partner Rebecca. When a Voodoo Curse gives the power to sick "evil goblins" like creatures to kill his children Jack must find a way to stop the evil. I was not a big horror fan til this book. The "goblins' are detailed and the chase to get the children is spelled out in a very scary way to keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think someone is safe they return. This starts slow and the last half of the book is super exciting. Koontz is the master of details and he has you guessing all the way. the READER is excellent and can do many accents that needed to keep the story moving along. ONE of the BEST of the early Koontz stories. I liked it. GREAT 4 STAR audiobook.

Leaves you wanting more

Excellent listen - oddly enough my first Dean Koontz book. Dean is an amazing writer, but I found myself wishing there was a bit more to this universe. It was a very short book and I wish that Dawson's character was better utilized after he discovered his potential.

Regardless, a great listen.

Love the Koontz!

Very good Koontz. I was easily sucked in and surprised by how I couldn't wait to get back to hear more. Some people bashed it but it's definitely worth a credit.

Clay is dangerous when animal blood is involved

Christopher Lane did an amazing job with the narration. The majority of the book had me on the edge of my seat but I felt it bogged down a little towards the end. Still one of the better audibles I've heard.

One of his earlier books

This book was written before Mr. Koontz started infusing religion, food, and metaphysical references into his books. It was the time that I fell in love with his work and still refer to these old books for the thrill and enjoyment of the supernatural. This work will not disappoint. Mr. Koontz would probably say that it has no real substance and only fluff and mirrors and that may be the case but I love it. I wish he would return to this milieu. I miss such works as Shadow Fires, Cold Fires, The Bad Place and Lightening.
