Publisher's Summary

Jack's a retired ex-cop from New York, seeking the simple life in Cherringham. Sarah's a Web designer who's moved back to the village find herself. But their lives are anything but quiet as the two team up to solve Cherringham's criminal mysteries.

This compilation contains episodes 10 - 12:
  • A Deadly Confession,
  • Blade in the Water,
  • Death on a Summer Night.

Here local priest Father Byrne meets his unexpected demise. Jack and Sarah investigate - who could harm the beloved Father? And what secrets did he take to the grave? The Cherringham Regatta is shaken when vandalism of boots turns into bloody murder. And when a murder suspect is freed from prison after 25 years, it's apparent someone in Cherringham wants him to continue serving his sentence - to death. But Jack and Sarah start to question... did he commit the crime in the first place?

Cherringham is a series à la Charles Dickens, with a new mystery thriller released each month. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa. For fans of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple series", Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who series", Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham.

The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in "Midsomer Murders" and "Jim Riley" in "The Life of Riley".

Love these mysteries. The story and reader are
good for listening. I have read all of the series that are out. These are long enough and not too long for interest and enjoyment.

More brilliant tales

If you could sum up Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 10 - 12) in three words, what would they be?

Not so cosy

What did you like best about this story?

All three stories are very well written. Real who dunnits that leave you guessing almost to the very end. I really enjoy the two different characters. I have perchased all the English translations of the series and they are all equally good in my opinion. Not really a "cosy" series although there are no descriptions of violence, sex or very strong language. Which I don't think are necessary if you are a good writer. It's nice to have books that one can listen to with any family member including 10 year old grandchildren.

Which character – as performed by Neil Dudgeon – was your favourite?

Definitely Jack. Some American accents can be dyer when spoken by English actors but, Mr Dudgeon performs it brilliantly and believabley. In fact he does all of the narration and different voices very well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It's three different stories. But I think I was most moved by the last chapter of the last one. I can't say why because that would be a spoiler.

Any additional comments?

I really hope that the rest of the series are translated into English very soon. This is my favourite set of books by far.

As re-listenable as Heartbeat is re-viewable

If you could sum up Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 10 - 12) in three words, what would they be?

Three more great stories

What about Neil Dudgeon’s performance did you like?

Neil Gudgeon is the main reason that I started listening to the series. For me he is a fine actor and narrator

Any additional comments?

The whole series is superb. An ex American cop working with a single Mum sorting out, albeit tongue in cheek, crimes in a small English village. Such a shame that there are only twelve episodes.

Cosy crime dramas

Would you consider the audio edition of Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation (Cherringham 10 - 12) to be better than the print version?

Nothing too brutal or nasty. Great for in the car on a long journey with a family audience.

Village life, for better or worse

Three short stories, the same format as the others in this series, which, if you like them, make excellent listening as it is so easy to get through a complete story in a stop start day.

Good stories that show, despite the drawbacks, life in a small community can be good, not perhaps idyllic, but with pretty surroundings, good friends and a decent pub and tea shop there is alot to be thankful for. Throw in the odd summer fete and regatta then invite the rest of the world and their dastardly ways into this near Eden.

An excellent narrator gives life and colour to these stories.

I really enjoy these books. The stories are interesting and complicated with just enough of an edge to hold your interest while still being cosy. And I love Neil Dudgeon's narration.
