When Graciella Rivers steps onto his boat, ex-FBI agent Terrell McCaleb has no idea he's about to come out of retirement. He's recuperating from a heart transplant and avoiding anything stressful. But when Graciella tells him the way her sister, Gloria, was murdered, Terry realizes he has no choice. Now the man with the new heart vows to take down a predator without a soul. For Gloria's killer shatters every rule that McCaleb ever learned in his years with the Bureau-as McCaleb gets no more second chances at life...and just one shot at the truth.

good read

Connelly is dependable, and it's a good solid story, but the Bosch stories are better. Narration is good.

Interesting but predictable

Even though I was able to guess the link early on, it was generally enjoyable getting there.

narrator performance left me uninspired.

the narrators performance of the female character of graciella weak i could only conjure up a picture of a man in drag. other characters were done well.
the overall story was pretty good, even though I had the Noone character pegged from the beginning, my curiosity kept me listening because I wanted to see how it played out.
I still love Michael Connelly and the characters he creates.

Gripping and exciting

I'm not usually one to be interested in crime novels but I really liked this one. A lot of human nature, mystery and a little romance thrown in. Very well written.

I so enjoyed the intrig within this book.

This is a book that so full of mystery and suspense and has the reader shaking one's head just trying to keep up. It was well written and narrated. And as said, I thoroughly enjoyed the hours spent listening to it. Thanks Mr. Connelly!

Absolutely Remarkable (as always)

I came across the other novels in this series 1st and always wondered what I missed, then here it said ( Here's the only 2 novels of M.C that you don't have in your library) Boom!!! I have it this 1 now, and I am amazed at what the characters went through, I am always amazed at how he writes each character. I am re-reading his novels in anticipation of the Nov '22 release of Ballard's next novel in the series. I have time and will definitely be able to finished this series as a trucker, I have a long day ahead and great novels and storyline always keeps my left door shut. I definitely recommend this novel. You will LOVE it.
