Publisher's Summary

San Francisco judge Ramsey Hunt, longtime friend to FBI agents Lacey Sherlock and Dillon Savich, begins the murder trial of Clive and Cindy Cahill only to have federal prosecutor Mickey O’Rourke, known for his relentless, aggressive style, suddenly turn tentative and distracted. Hunt suspects that something is very wrong — and then O’Rourke goes missing, and Judge Hunt gets shot in the back.

Savich and Sherlock receive news of the attack as a mysterious note is delivered to Savich at the Hoover Building: FOR WHAT YOU DID YOU DESERVE THIS. Who sent the note? What does it mean?

As Ramsey Hunt’s life hangs in the balance, Savich and Sherlock race to San Francisco to answer the question: Why would anyone shoot the judge? When they discover one answer, more questions arise, until Savich and Sherlock face the final shock.

Meh.

What did you like best about Backfire? What did you like least?

The story was one that brought you back to old characters and old friends. Lots of very corny "cop talk".

Would you be willing to try another book from Catherine Coulter? Why or why not?

Maybe

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Nope

Great book

What did you love best about Backfire?

Although the two readers were disconcerting at first, it quickly became internal to the rhythm of the book.

What other book might you compare Backfire to and why?

Catherine Coulter'other books in the series. Robert Parker's Spenser series

Have you listened to any of Jim Meskimen and Deanna Hurst ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not that I am aware of

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Great listen

Violence with Tender relationships

What did you love best about Backfire?

The friendships and the love.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Not really. Too much predictable gore as it moved into the climax.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

"He said." "She said." too often. Sometimes a male voice, then a beat, then a female voice saying, "he said." Sheesh - no exclaimed, or shouted or cried, just 'said'.

Narration really slowed down the suspense and hampered the storyline. Are these narrators tired of doing this?

Sometimes male and female changed off with each other with no rhyme or reason, just enough to make the story not flow.

Any additional comments?

Disappointing.

wow! MEH!

I love C.C.'s FBI series...except for this one. I have all the previous books in the series. I've listened to them multiple times because I enjoy them. This one is not up to par. I couldn't get by the lisp of the narrator. I have listened to Diana Hurst in other Books and liked them. But I would recommend you preview this one before you buy. I can't comment on content of the book. I imagine it will be quite good!

Decent

The story is decent, the writing and characters are cheeseball express to cheddarville. Not worth a credit IMO, but worth the cost of a deal of the day sale, which is how I got it.

Great Book !!!!!!

I love all of Catherine Coulter's books. This one is one of my favs. Thanks for a great time. Eve and Harry are two of my favorite characters. Right up there with Coop and Lucy. Hope to see all four in a book someday.

Really. Really bad writing

Inferior ham-fisted storytelling. Waste of time and money. Just dont do it, or you'll be sorry.
