Reseñas de la Crítica

"Anne Flosnik seems to have a wonderful time with this romance, reading in staid, unemotional tones that fit Douglas's attitude about marriage. As hot-blooded Alex discovers lust that quickly turns to love, Flosnik's reading engages the listener right though to the luscious conclusion." ( AudioFile)

The story is engaging and reasonably well written but I struggled to finish it...Constant bickering and back and forth between H and h was tiring and not enjoyable.
Personally, I don’t like the theme of besotted ugly duckling and the reluctant Hero, who humiliates her thought the story but condescends to love her at the end.

Not my favourite

but I ended up enjoying this book very much. Douglas was a real pill for much of the story but he came around in the end. I loved Alexandra’s stubborn refusal to be anything but her true self.
It is good to be reminded that it wasn’t so long ago that women were possessions of first their fathers and then their husbands.

It took some time

I remember reading this years ago. It took me a while to get back into it and to see Douglas for the man if his era. But suddenly I found myself enjoying the tale and hoping for more. Thank you Audible for taking me back to the Sherbrooke Bride series!

Slowly she goes but a fun revisit

What made the experience of listening to The Sherbrooke Bride the most enjoyable?

Watching Doug change the way he feels about Alexandria.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alex of course, so hidden by her sisters beauty.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The beginning was hard to get interested in, but as the story goes along I have grown quite interested and find it hard to stop listening.

Love this series and this first book was my favorite.
Not a fan of Anne Flosnik voice (to high pitch) but she does a pretty good job of all Catherine Coulter and many more author's books. Guess you get use to it eventually. lol

Like how Alex holds her own from the start.

Great start to the series.

I have read that Catherine's old work is much better than her new work. I agree . This book is better that her new ones. The story was good but the dialog was wired and silly at many occasions !!!! The narration was good . Actually the best performance I heard for Anne Flosnik so far. I liked it :)

Better than her latest work!

Douglas the hero was a knucklehead. Later in the story he redeemed himself a bit. Liked that Alexandria, the heroine finally grew a backbone and started defending herself against his behavior. Throughly enjoyed the fight scene between Douglas, his cousin, Tony and their wives. Worth a read.

Enjoyable!
