Not worth the time.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I didn't feel that the story was very well written. It was not worth the time. I did not want to finish listening to the book, but my husband insisted that we listen to the end.

This series never fails to impress!

Purchased this book to keep me company on a long drive to a conference. The entire drive passed in no time! The story line was great, the audio was great, and the price was right! This series never fails to impress!

Good listening!

Catherine Coulter, like many women thriller writers, writes mostly romance novels. Unlike many such novelists she does not put steamy sex scenes in her thrillers (Sandra Brown, JA Redmerski, and Kendra Elliot for example). The FBI Thriller series is now 19 books and 9 are in my Audible library. This is the best of the 9 I have listened to. Coulter excels at character development! After listening to two or three books in the series you feel you know married couple FBI agents Sherlock and Savich as well as their young son. Sherlock, the wife, has flaming red hair and a temper to match. She is the more aggressive of the two. Savich is a computer and technology nerd who has written a program that helps identify the bad guys.

Although this book is the best story of those to which I have listened, the narration pair is weaker than that of Coulter's other thrillers. I did not find it as bad as some other reviewers.

The FBI Thriller series is definitely worth a listen!

Love Catherine Coulter

What did you love best about Backfire?

the story and these characters. Savitch, Sherlock and the whole gang. Was waiting for the next in the series/

What was one of the most memorable moments of Backfire?

When they were in the elevator. don't want to give anything away. I was surprised how one of the villans came out of left field. ie: from the Judges background story.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Jim Meskimen and Deanna Hurst ?

Yes

Love Coulter's growing FBI family after each book.

Where does Backfire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book up there with the rest of Catherine's FBI thrillers.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Good plot kept we wondering who was the villein.

Which character – as performed by Jim Meskimen and Deanna Hurst – was your favorite?

I think both Jim and Deanna did a great job on all the characters. I like both a man and woman's voice when there are both men and women characters are speaking.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I could not.

Any additional comments?

Would like more books from Coulter with her FBI team.

Not the best Catherine Coulter

I had a hard time with the narration of children's voices. It was annoying and sappy. Kids in a thriller just don't fit for me. Perhaps I would feel different if I was reading it myself vs. listening to it. I couldn't even get through it.

#16 in the series

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Listening to this book was frustrating. It was too long for such a feeble storyline. The worst part was the female voice actor. I do not wish to make anyone feel badly but her main character voice and voice personifications of several characters were brutal. It would have been better without the silly personifications. The author's attempt at humor and colorful description at times was poor. She is no comedian and her dull humor was completely out of place. I will not pick up another Catherine Coulter book. I did finish the book but at the end I could not figure out why I did.

Would you be willing to try another book from Catherine Coulter? Why or why not?

No. It would be a waste of time and with so many other good books to read why would I?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The female narrator did detract so much from the book. I already do not like the feeble attempt to guide me as I hear a book. I prefer one voice reading without personification of characters. Just read me the book.

Do you think Backfire needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Stop at 16. Please!!!!

Easy listen

Would you consider the audio edition of Backfire to be better than the print version?

A little slow moving. The reader bugged me at first....a lot of He said She said which I am not used. Overall not great but good.

Would you be willing to try another book from Catherine Coulter? Why or why not?

Yes going to listen to the book that tells what happened to Emma next.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

no
