"Perfect Voice For a Favorite Series."
Would you consider the audio edition of All Together Dead to be better than the print version?

Neither is better than the other. I will say that Johanna Parker is my perfect version for Sookie. She just makes Sookie come alive all the better and with the correct accent clarified a few things that my 'Yankee' imagination couldn't.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sookie is fabulous but I like my heroines with a little more barbarian and a little less lady. Of course maybe that's just how southern woman are. I also love Pam. If I could somehow combine both of them it would be perfect. I would like to see more of Diantha.

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The southern accent and correct southern pronunciation of words. I'f from as far north as you can get and still be in the USA. Sometimes it is hard for me to 'hear' the words correctly when I read.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Spoilers Sweetie.

    "Disaster in Rhodes"
Would you consider the audio edition of All Together Dead to be better than the print version?

Yes, I don't have this series in book form. I find the sound of the story very enjoyable to listen to. Since this storyline is so full of action and adventure the voice adds to the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Quinn is my favorite character since he tries to be honest with Sookie, even though she has no tolerance for his life. She is a little hypocrite.

What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?

As always an excellent job, she makes the story wonderful to listen to.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Disaster in Rhodes

    Any additional comments?

I find the more I listen to this series the more I realize how much happens in each story.

    "Bad Narration/Simplistic writing"

The narrator's imitations of male voices is annoying. The story line is virtually all dialogue with no character development. If you just like reading about vampires and other creatures without regard to story development, this book is for you.

    "Wonderful!"

Totally enjoyed this chapter of Sookie's saga. The 'trial' was amazing. Harris did it again. Johanna Parker was wonderful at capturing Sookie's voice and all the different characters- I listened to it twice.

    "A great series!"

I’ve loved the entire series of books featuring Sookie Stackhouse. This is the first audio version that I’ve listened to and it was delightful. The narrator is exactly as I'd imagined Sookie's voice would be. The books feature fascinating, humorous characters that continually evolve and surprise as they travel through fast-paced plots.

I like Jack Reacher style characters regardless of setting. Put them in outer space, in modern America, in a military setting, on an alien planet... no worries. Book has non moralistic vigilante-justice? Sign me up! (oh, I read urban fantasy, soft and hard sci-fi, trashy vampire and zombie novels too)

    "Favorite so far!"

I think this was my favorite book of the series - and I really liked most of the books in this series! The plot was very engaging, and suspenseful, and there was a lot of plotting and conniving to be figured out. There wasn't so much of the sex as in some of the other books, but it didn't take away from the story at all.

The story seemed much more mature than some of the earlier ones - there was actually a story involved, not just Sookie finding and/or losing her latest lover. Sookie is much more mature now, and the story had her having some growth too, so she's not as naive as she has been in other books. Quite nice, actually, to see a character still have some room to grow after 7 books.

    The narration is spot-on.

    "Good story read flatly"

I began reading the Sookie Stackhouse series before I discovered audible, so I was hooked before ever hearing narrator's monotone drawl. The narration is distractingly irritating to me, in part, because it conveys a main character who is more resigned and less humorous than the one that I read in the books. That being said, the stories are still amusing.

I once owned the bookstore A Novel Idea. I sold mysteries and cat humor. Put a cat in a mystery, and I'm likely to read it. Book Reviewer.

"Wedding fever has hit Bon Temps"

Wedding fever has hit Bon Temps, Louisiana, and Jason Stackhouse finally gets hitched when were-panther Crystal Norris discovers she is pregnant again. Jason asks his sister Sookie to attend. Quinn the were-tiger, accompanies Sookie, enhancing her status. This wedding is unique since Sookie must vouch for Jason as his closest living relative and agree to take the penalty if Jason does wrong.

Telepath Sookie Stackhouse is dating one of the last were-tigers. She knows there is more about Quinn that she needs to learn; what makes him the legend about which other shapeshifters whisper? Sookie is also hosting witch Amelia who fled New Orleans after transforming her boyfriend Bob into a cat, since she would owe a penalty to the witch community. However, Amelia needs help finding the spell to turn the cat back into her boyfriend, but since she cannot risk contact, Bob’s fate is uncertain.

Sookie must leave Amelia in Louisiana to attend the vampire summit in Rhodes. Louisiana vampire Queen Sophie-Anne has requested that Sookie accompany her and read the minds of any humans she deals with to detect deceit or malice. The Queen’s position has declined following hurricane Katrina and so has her wealth. While the Queen and other vampires fled New Orleans, they have yet to return. Even the human population has offered assistance, since it will bring tourism back to the city. Queen Sophie-Anne will seek support in the rebuilding efforts while at the summit.

Several months ago at a reception celebrating the nuptials of the Queen of Louisiana and the King of Arkansas, betrayals and hidden agendas bring about an attempt on the Queen’s life and the murder of the King. In the Queen’s defense, her personal bodyguard killed the King, instigating a brawl among all vampires present. At the summit, Queen Sophie-Anne will go on trial for murder if she cannot negotiate a settlement.

The summit is all about power struggles within kingdoms and among rivals, between vampires and humans. Even Sookie becomes embroiled, so when the Queen’s bodyguard demands that her loyalty be fortified, Sookie and Eric must exchange blood, hence becoming blood bonded. When Sookie encounters Texan Barry Bellboy, the only other telepath she knows, they compare experiences and realize that each person has their own tolerance for what they can live with and what they consider to be way outside the lines. This inner turmoil helps to define each of them.

The summit is full of mysterious goings on. Guards from another dimension protect the King of Kentucky, but no one can discern why. Sookie discovers a bomb outside the Queen’s suite, but who placed it there? What do the extra suitcases and caskets hold, since no one claims them? Rumors fly about the Church of the Sun.

This seventh entry into the unique world of Sookie Stackhouse brings many magical creatures together at increasingly complex and dangerous events. Very entertaining and definitely recommended.
