frustrating and disappointing but okay ...

This book has such amazing potential for greatness... but sadly falls far short of acceptable. What there was of it was very enjoyable and even surprising. Yet the constantly skipping from what felt like a unfinished sentence to the next disconnected one that I found myself rewinding constantly to see what I had missed. Days, weeks, months passed between once sentence and the next often leaving so much unanswered that it was verrry confusing! It seemed that every time something started to develope that was proving would be quite interesting it was suddenly far in the future and often there was no knowledge of how that had happened or how that moment resolved. An entire subplot was given literally two or three sentences to (not) develope and was forgotten until it was needed to explain something further on in the story, not having been given the weight it needed to substantiate the importance that that little would carry much importance further on. There was such potential for something outstanding to be written into existence.The storylines that were merely teased at with the promise of something special and interesting and even exciting were merely hinted at . It felt like a half written outline with the ideas there but never fleshed out. Incredibly disapointing!

NARRATOR: Marian Hussey was the one and only saving grace to the experience which is / was this book. She is a remarkable performer with perfect accents perfect everything.

CREDITWORTHY? No, not really. l enjoyed what there was of the story. And the plot was very interesting but...

HEAT FACTOR: STEAMY!

3 hours to long and a scattered story. Sigh...

Well this story started out good, then got dull, then it picked up again and then got dull, then the ending was just whatever. This story seemed so disconnected to me. Found myself re winding and wondering what is going on? how did they get there? who is that? What the heck just happened?

The story line and plot from the book description sounded good but just lacked good story telling. It did not flow well at all.

The heroine was just okay but just a bit too stubborn with her secret. I didn't find the chemistry very real or convincing. It felt like it was just forced.
There was nothing great or exciting about the hero either. There is a few sex scenes, not erotica, So the book is not rated G.

I just felt the author thoughts rambled and scattered in her mind as she was writing this story, hence the story not flowing very well at all.

There is a lot of dialogue through out the book so that was good. I think if this book had been shortened by about 3 hours and edited for unnecessary scenes it would have been quite enjoyable.

As for the narration, that is exactly why I bought the book, Marian Hussey is one of my favorites and she did a fantastic job. The men sound like men, everyone's accent sounds great. Her reading voice is great. She read with emotion and I just love listening to her.

I can't say I would recommend this story. I can say I highly recommend the narrator.

Luckily I got this as a free read with my KU and 1.99 audible.

EXCELLENT BOOK

I like everything about this book. It was to the point and not drawn out. The narrator was really good. I would recommend this book to anyone who love historical romance like me.. I gave this book 5 star because it was a truly a joy to listen to.

A very enjoyable book except for a few parts

The story was mostly well written and an enjoyable along with the pacing which was excellent. My only complaints are with the ending and the heroine.
I main complaint about the heroine is that she protests way too much which results in her getting into lots of trouble which could've been avoided had she been more honest. I also hated the fact that she was so willing to jump to the worst conclusions about her highland husband even after he had risked his life repeatedly to save her and proven his love for her in other ways as well.
I guess it is that same distrust of her Highland husband that let the author to write the last chapter of the book the way she did. And this in turn had me screaming, "WTH!" I don't want to give away any spoilers so I won't explain in detail but I would've enjoyed the book a lot more had she not wrote about their relationship the way she did in the last chapter of the book.

That said, I would still highly recommend this book to lovers of Highland and romance novels.

My highland love

I like the storyline. Heroine was a strong lady who did what she wanted when she wanted. Hero was a strong male who seen what he wanted and what after it. I did not like all the sex talk and scenes. This was a good story, without the sex.

Very Good Book

The performance was excellent. The story was good if somewhat convoluted. Highland stories are my favorite but I prefer they take place entirely in the Highlands. I didn't enjoy the part that took plans in the States as much. Still I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Ok but left lacking

The main (female) character came across as a bit witchy and lacking any good sense. The middle of the story dragged with no new in depth info on the story. The first third and last third of the book were great. I actually would recommend this book but caution to be patient with the center third of the book.

Can't wait for the next one.

This is a Fantastic story. The Narriator is the best female I have ever listened to. It has lots of action and love. Wonderful!!

Beyond 5 star highland love

Scottish 1821 Scottish Marquess and American lady. Hero is Marquess . Heroine is Elise . This story is full of Mystery, Suspense and love . This is a great story from Tarah Scott. Elise is an American Heiress who her Husband slowly killed their child and once on a ship to England was going to kill her also . Her brother Stephan caught her husband in the act. The ship was caught on fire and Stephan and Elise was on the Top deck when Elise husband came after them . Elise had no choice by to shoot her husband. Elise was thrown overboard by the wind . Elise was washed on land by the sea and ended up by Marcus keep . (Cameron father the Duke ) took her in . Four months later Marcus goes home to Scotland . That is when Marcus spots Elise and he has lustful thoughts .
Does Elise tell Marcus she needs to go back to America for revenge . Does Marcus win her hand and heart . Grab this and be so into the story you won't put it down
