Publisher's summary

The curtain rises, and the chandelier falls—taking the star of the show down with it. An ambitious young usher working at the theater sets out to find who killed the leading lady in a crackling short story by #1 New York Times bestselling author Nita Prose.

Grace is an usher at the stately (and possibly haunted) Royal Ruby Theater. She’s also an aspiring actress ready for her big break. Vanessa is the glamorous yet spiteful star who’s made more enemies than friends on her rise to the top. When Vanessa winds up dead in act one, Grace is determined to find the killer. But is she seeking justice, or something darker?

Murder at the Royal Ruby is part of Obsession, a collection of compulsively readable short stories about people pushed to their extremes. So addictive you won’t be able to put them down—read or listen to each story in a single sitting.

Fun-Sized Mystery for Theater Fans

This is a great short story to listen to when you have a bit of time to fill. The narrator is great and Nita Prose never disappoints. Get ready to enter a grand old theater and meet an eclectic group of characters. Details about the atmosphere of the theater and the people who inhabit it is spot on for anyone who has tread the boards or helped out backstage. Fun mystery to solve in just under an hour!

Killer Novella

I love short little novellas that pack a punch and Murder at the Royal Ruby is just that! I think it's an awesome start to what will prove to be a killer (all puns intended) Obsession Collection! I cannot wait to dive into the rest of the books, because if they're all half as good as this one, then it will be hard to be this collection of mystery novellas!

This was the first book that I've read by Nita Prose but certainly won't be my last.

Murder at the Royal Ruby was narrated by Jess Nahikian, who I felt fit the part perfectly! This might have even been my first listen of hers, but again...won't be my last!

Like I said...I can't wait to see what the rest of this collection, and Nita Prose has in store!

Entertaining cozy-like mystery

Liked the narrator. Storyline was a bit predictable but engaging. Was a good length-not too long or too short. I found it enjoyable for my afternoon walk.

Great narration

The story…. Not so much. Perhaps I’m just obtuse, but I thought it could have been better.

Theater Who Dun It

It was interesting to know what happens and then start back at the beginning and gather clues, constantly wondering who it actually was. Everyone had a motive, and is there a ghost in the theater? I didn't like the main character though, she didn't seem sincere, and the narration was very breathy and fevered. She was definitely obsessed with the spotlight!
