For two brothers, an inheritance triggers a dark chain of events in a thrilling short story of loyalty and revenge by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Flight Attendant.

Aspiring musician Pete Hamilton has nothing in common with his older brother, Leo, an aerospace engineer. Until their late father leaves them the family farm, a sprawling dairy operation in Vermont. Pete wants to hold on. Leo wants to sell. All the embattled brothers can agree on is to skydive over the fields and sprinkle their father’s ashes—a grand gesture the old man would have loved. But when the plan goes terribly wrong, only one unexpected eyewitness can see what’s really going on.

Chris Bohjalian’s The Skydivers is part of Alibis, a collection of stories about lies, truth, and deception. It’s just a matter of what you can get away with. They can be read or listened to in one sitting.

Almost Landed

The premise had me genuinely hooked. Two brothers, a Vermont farm inheritance dispute, a skydive to scatter their dad's ashes, and then someone ends up in a forage harvester. It's a wild setup. But the payoff never quite matched the promise, and I finished it feeling like I'd been handed a great movie trailer for a pretty average film. Quick listen, decent enough for an afternoon, just don't go in expecting to be floored.

Interesting Little Twist

This Amazon Original Story from the Alibis series had a different twist than what I had expected. I almost missed a key piece of information and glad I took the time to look backward and reread a key part. The author rushed the ending as with most shorts I felt. I wouldn’t have minded it if it were a longer book.

Don't skip this short!

WOW! This was another awesome story in the series that had my jaw on the floor. The opening chapter, with all of its intensity, immediately grabs your attention. You almost have no choice but to read until the end to learn what happened to lead up to the event.

Left undone

This short story leads me to wonder what the other has planned for books in the near future. So many strings left hanging.

Some suspenseful stuff but not a slam-dunk

Same writer is the Flight Attendent which is why I wanted to listen. Was a little slow at first but I got sucked in by the end. One of the male narrators was particularly good!
