Publisher's summary

Even quaint and quirky English villages have a dark side....

September, 1923. Despite closing her first case, high society lady detective Olive Belgrave hasn’t found a new client. She’s taken a job as a hat model to pay for her poky boarding house room. But then a job offer comes her way: make discreet inquires about a famous author who’s disappeared.

Olive travels to the English countryside to hunt for the missing mystery author. But soon after she arrives in the sleepy village, a body is discovered. Then a second murder focuses the police’s attention on Olive, and she must clear her name before the murderer pens a plot that frames her.

Murder at Blackburn Hall is the second in the High Society Lady Detective series, a lighthearted cozy historical mystery series set in 1920s England. If you love novels that take you back to the Golden Age of detective fiction with interesting plots, posh settings, and twisty mysteries, you’ll love the High Society Lady Detective Series from USA Today best-seller Sara Rosett.

Olive is a fantastic lead character!

This has become my new favorite series. Olive is such a fantastic lead character, and I love how each book takes places in a new house or location with a rotating cast of characters. The narrator does a wonderful job of narrating and bringing the characters to life so well. It’s truly an immersive experience. If you love cozy mysteries & period pieces then you will adore this!

Fun, well written and very well narrated.

Amusing and light. It reminds me of Agatha Christie. I enjoy the period and characterizations.

best murder mystery series

I love these murder mystery series! Very clean and historically accurate. It feels like you're transported to the 1920-1930s era. Love it!!! And especially the back story at the end of the book.

Loved It!

Recommend this fun light murder mystery. The author did a good job paying attention to historic detail. Well done. The Audible presentation was wonderful. I just ordered the 2nd book in this series.

Charming cozy mystery

I was impressed by the author's details of the period and, although it is a cozy mystery, the ending was a surprise. Yes, a clue was given beforehand, but I missed it, which made the ending even more fun.

Fun mystery, great time period

This is a great combination of historic fiction and innocent mystery...meaning it isn’t gruesome. I’ll be listening to the next book in the series.

Nice break....

What a nice break from the heavier mysteries. Nothing to jar the senses, like some mysteries have a tendency to do. This is the second in the series and Sara Rosett does a fine job. Of course Elizabeth Klett has a wonderful voice.

Series Is Growing on Me

I enjoyed this installment. Good character development and a story which didn’t reveal itself until late in the book. The reader is left to wonder until the end “who done it”. Looking forward to the next book.
