Publisher's Summary

The tale of the legendary golden flower is widely known. The story has been told many times and in many ways. But always the flower is coveted by an old witch to keep herself young and beautiful. And always the flower is used to save a dying queen, who then gives birth to a princess with magical hair. Not willing to lose the flower, the old witch steals the princess and locks her away in a high tower, raising her as her own. But the princess always finds out who she truly is and manages to defeat the old witch.

And yet this is only half the story. So what of the old witch, Mother Gothel? Where does she come from? And how does she come across the magical golden flower? Here is one account that recounts a version of the story that has remained untold for centuries...until now. It is a tale of mothers and daughters, of youth and dark magic. It is a tale of the old witch.

Woa, Mother!

Throughout the whole story and especially by the end i felt so bad for Gothel! So well written and performed, an interesting back story for this villain and I love the tie ins of the odd sisters and the movie tangled (not a lot of singing but referenced really well) why a great series!!

Elsa?

It’s has become very well known that Elsa and Anna are Rapunzel’s cousins. It’s would be amazing to have a frozen branch of this series. I am a huge fan. This story made me actually like mother Gothel.

Good Book

It was an interesting take, that Serena took on this story. I was quite surprised with how Gothel's story was explained.
I enjoyed this and look forward to The Odd Sister's Book.

A unique but strange retelling!

I thoughly enjoyed this retelling of Gothel's story. I always believed she was more than just an old woman and I liked the thought of her having this almost witchy quality to her! However, it was strange the paths it took when the story could have been simpler to explain certain events. I won't go too much into detail as to not spoil the story but having someone asleep for a very long time and giving them memories seems a lot more complicated than them actually being awake... It was just-- an interesting approach. I did enjoy the novel though and the performance was flawless! Like listening to a classic fairytale. If there was anything just perfect and wonderful, it would be the narrator, Lucy Rayner. I still definitely look forward to reading the other books in the series! (:

Mother Knows Best

I really like this book. I started listening to this book because I'm on the Tangled world in Kingdom Hearts 3 and I thought it would be fun to beat the world while listening to this book. I like that this book ties into the Tangled movie as well. The character development is good as well.

Fun book that ties well into the Rapunzel movie.

this was an enjoyable book that tied well to the movie and gave a great new perspective of a villain.
