Publisher's summary

Supernatural Squad might be small, but we're growing in power. The vampires and werewolves of London are beginning to respect me more, and I feel like I know what I'm doing - even if I don't yet understand what I truly am.

Unfortunately, there might be a few snags to deal with. I'm trying to avoid Lord Horvath, the black-eyed vampire leader who seems intent on a more intimate relationship. There's also Devereau Webb, who runs a small criminal syndicate and has offered me a mysterious gift that I'm certain I don't want. And across the span of one single day, supernatural hell breaks loose across the city of London.

A suicidal vampire has climbed up the London Eye.

Three werewolves have hijacked a tourist bus.

This might prove to be the longest day of my life.

Midnight Smoke is the third book in the thrilling Firebrand urban fantasy series.

Lord Horvath 🥰

Ground hog day, repeat 4x. This was a well crafted story with the repeating events and not falling into the hole of repetitive scenes. I’m totally looking forward to what’s next with Lord Horvath 🥰

Great series

Finally getting steamy! Well written cast of characters, interesting plot lines, surprising twists and very entertaining this is a really nice series and finally getting a little romance for our heroine. Very good narrator, voices of characters are easily identifiable and lots of emotion in the narration.

Groundhog Day goes paranormal thriller

The series hits its stride here, with Emma getting comfortable with her Phoenix gift. Whereas the first two books were more traditional police procedurals in a paranormal world, this one leans heavily into action and suspense. There’s more violence, but still the YA kind. I’m loving the expanding cast, especially Webb.

Fantastic!

This book is fantastic! BUT make sure you don’t listen anywhere NSFW like I ended up doing because there is a really steamy part! It’s towards the end just to let you be aware. I wasn’t exactly expecting that with so much detail. Should have a warning! Anyway this book is a great addition and I really really can’t wait for the next one! Going to binge in now :)

Half spoiler alert for the people who need to know!

Also spoilerish but I almost rage quit the whole book series for a moment there and had to look into the descriptions of the next books and comments to see if the whole world was basically ending with someone’s death. Do the same or just keep going. You won’t be disappointed.

Not as good as the first two books

Overall, the characters were okay, although the romance part of it was a little over-the-top. But it seems every speculative author at some point feels the need to use a certain plot device and almost always, they do it poorly. This was no exception. (I'm not listing the plot device because I don't want to spoil the book, but a reader can't miss it.) Once such a plot device is introduced to a world, and in this case, easily accessed (for what it does), it breaks the setting.

Ruth Urquhart did another amazing job narrating. Someday, I'd like for her to narrate one of my stories. :D
