Publisher's summary

All Cookie James, FBI agent and innkeeper extraordinaire, wants is a romantic date with her hot handyman...but what she gets is a corpse presented with a big red bow.

When she and Dylan discover a boat with a dead body, not only is her picnic ruined, but a woman from Dylan’s past returns to the island. The famous rock star appears to want a comeback tour with her former bodyguard. But Cookie doesn’t have time to worry about that, because her oh-so-sexy ex-FBI partner has arrived, too. And he’s ready to make a little music of his own.

With an entangled love life, too much manscaping, and a songbird in trouble, it’s once again Cookie’s job to wrap up another murder.

Great Series!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. The narrator did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Life in the Dead Lane

I read the book about a year ago. Listening to the audio was a great experience. I liked Traci Odom's narration. She did a great job with Cookie and the guys. She didn't try too hard to make a male voice just enough to distinguish. Her Main accent was good as well.

Two hotties and she isn't taking either one of them—yet. Of course, finding a corpse tends to ruin the romance of boat ride and a picnic. Cookie, in hiding FBI agent, gets involved with solving the case along with her former partner (one of the hotties) when the locals call in the FBI and deputize her. Thrown together with hot Hunter, and her singing idol, she's distracted from Dylan—until he turns out to have a history with the singer.

With all the distractions, you'd think solving the case would be impossible. Not for Cookie. If she can deal with her mother (you have to read about Rainne to understand) she can stay focused. Well, mostly. It is fun watching her deal with Hunter to solve the case. Except with Cookie and those around her, the end is rarely that simple.

Is she going to choose between Hunter and Dylan? Solve the case? Figure out why her idol is really on Seal Island? A good read, interesting, fun read with sexy characters, clues that lead one way, but never quite giving it away. You'll find yourself wanting to read more at the end of this one.

A cozy with some spice and fun characters. I wasn't as happy with the accent of one of the bad guys. Overall there's humor, danger, and an overall enjoyable experience.

Awesome don't miss it

The crazy team is back together again !
Cookie is an FBI agent hiding from a mob family at Secret Seal Isle. Her handyman/ want to be boyfriend (Dylan Creed) takes her out on another date because the last one got messed up well this one does too. See they find a boat with a dead body. Yea the universe hate her. If that not enough to mess up her love life Dylan 's old girlfriend comes to town because the guy they found was her brother. Then book s a room at her inn. Hold on there is more the local cops call in help for the case and it's her old FBI partner and still hot for her. OMG what's a girl to do beside lose her mind? Lol
If you are a mystery fan this IS your book. What an awesome storyline. The characters are fantastic. I couldn't put this story down. It was so much fun. I adored this fun mystery with all its twists and turns.

Killer found. . . ?

This series just keeps getting better. I enjoyed this story. The mystery within the mystery was great. I actually liked the damsel in distress and Cookie's mom and her friend, Winter are excellent. I love the 70s vibe they give the storyline. Great book. The performance by the reader is wonderful.
