A woman who finds magic in her forties.

I absolutely adore this series. The heroine is 45 years old!!! I love reading about characters that have life experience but can still make a positive change in their life without being down on themselves. This series has everything that I love: a hot sexy hero who happens to be middle aged, a spunky best friend, a heroine that I can relate to and magic and mayhem. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal.

Darynda does it again.

Darynda Jones makes lighthearted fantasy romance stories that you love. The humor is great, some might think it is over the top, but for me it is just what the barista ordered. If you loved Charley Davidson books this is a no brainer. If you like authors like Molly Harper this is also a no brainer. Narrator is excellent.

middle aged MC with mind of a dumb teen

reading the 3rd book in series and still perplexed by the length of 'stupid' the MC would go to. I mean, if she was a teenager with a penchant for horror movie clichés, it would make sense - but a middle-aged woman who runs willy nilly into danger with no clue as to what she's doing or how she'll get out of it? it nigh on boggles the mind. how many sane people would open a door they know contains a malevolent spirit, just for the sheer curiosity of 'knowing' what it is? who'll let themselves be talked into a seance, despite knowing they could inadvertently "pull in" something dangerous?
I like funny books as much as the next person (a big fan of darynda jones), but this particular series has painted a middle-aged MC into a dumb as heck woman with the thoughtlessness and stupidity of a teenager with no ounce of the normal self-preservation life usually teaches an adult. Not the finest of Darynda Jones.

Not my favorite in the series

I love the first two books, but this one felt more contrived. I found myself getting angry with the protagonist for not using the incredible powers at her disposal to figure things out. she kept going after things that just don't matter that much instead of getting to the meet of the matter. that said, I still like the book

Love this series

I absolutely love this series. The character development is top notch and the performances is worthy of a special mention. The story develops from book to book, never stagnating or boring. I also love the sense of humor. Would recommend this book to anyone.

Beguiling!

I love this series! Darynda Jones is wonderful at creating memorable characters. The dialogue always makes.me laugh. Truly funny! The narration is wonderful!

can't wait for# 4

I stayed awake all night reading and unable to put it down. Beguiled is the 3rd book in this continuing story, leaving off at the exact moment of the previous book. This one is a bit more sexual than the previous 2 and it's great that 2 women in their forties are the central characters. The odd ball assortment of beings collected bring a great deal of humor to the books. I recommend buying the next book before the previous one and dedicating a weekend to enjoy.

Another great book

The solid storyline in this paranormal women fiction novel is awesome. There's action, romance, and comedy. I've already downloaded the next book.

Good story line but...

Light porn, but its too grafic for me. That's not why I read or listen.

Intelligence Please

I'm half finished with the 3rd book of this series and I'm enjoying the story but, I hate the ignorance and lack of for-sight the main character, Defiance portrays. I'm a mid-life woman and cannot believe that I would so willingly dive blindly, head-first into so many epic adventures - not at this age...
