About this listen

The final novel in the First Law Trilogy by New York Times best seller Joe Abercrombie.

Logen Ninefingers might have only one more fight in him - but it's going to be a big one. Battle rages across the North, the king of the Northmen still stands firm, and there's only one man who can stop him. His oldest friend and his oldest enemy: It's time for the Bloody-Nine to come home.

With too many masters and too little time, Superior Glokta is fighting a different kind of war. A secret struggle in which no one is safe and no one can be trusted. As his days with a sword are far behind him, it's fortunate that he's deadly with his remaining weapons: blackmail, threats, and torture.

Jezal dan Luthar has decided that winning glory is too painful an undertaking and turned his back on soldiering for a simple life with the woman he loves. But love can be painful too - and glory has a nasty habit of creeping up on a man when he least expects it.

The king of the Union lies on his deathbed, the peasants revolt, and the nobles scramble to steal his crown. No one believes that the shadow of war is about to fall across the heart of the Union. Only the First of the Magi can save the world, but there are risks. There is no risk more terrible than to break the First Law....

"Exhilarating.... Abercrombie's knack for wit and grit holds your attention throughout, and his eye for character means that there's heart as well as muscle." [ SFX (UK)]

A lot of people didn't like end ending, but...

You've got to be realistic. Ending seemed fitting to me. Not sure what other people expected.

Excellent!!!

Great story, the whole trilogy. Almost a GOT type of story, with some comedy thrown in. And Steven Pacey is one of the best in the business!

Tied for my 2nd fav series.

Some of the characters are the best I've ever encountered. The ending wasn't perfect but it closed enough of the loose ends.

Loved it

This book was awesome and the narrator couldn't have been any better. This is the best fiction book I've found in a long time.

Completely enjoyed this trilogy. The narrator is the best at his craft. The variety of characters and issues were always entertaining

MUST READ

I absolutely LOVED this series. The first book started a bit slow but does such a great job developing characters you quickly find yourself on the second book. The third book is the best of the trilogy. Tons of action and all of the plot lines, along with most of the history, come to appropriate conclusions. I would relish the opportunity to discuss these characters in a book club setting. Overall, very entertaining books, I highly recommend them all!

Fantastic!!!

I’ve been an audible member since it started years ago. This First Law series is one of the finest audio book experiences is my library. Stephen Pacey’s narration is as good as I’ve ever heard, if not the best. He does different voices for each character and is absolutely masterful in it. 5 out of 5 stars all the way around.
