Publisher's summary

Theft of Swords contains The Crown Conspiracy and Avempartha, books 1 and 2 of Riyria Revelations. The Crown Conspiracy is the first book in the captivating Riyria Revelations.

They killed the king. They pinned it on two men. They chose poorly.

There is no ancient evil to defeat, no orphan destined for greatness, just two guys in the wrong place at the wrong time. Royce Melborn, a skilled thief, and his mercenary partner, Hadrian Blackwater, make a profitable living carrying out dangerous assignments for conspiring nobles until they become the unwitting scapegoats in a plot to murder the king. Sentenced to death, they have only one way out...and so begins this tale of treachery and adventure, sword fighting and magic, myth and legend. Avempartha is the second of a six book series entitled the Riyria Revelations.

The secret is in the tower. The problem is the beast. The answer is two thieves.

When a destitute young woman hires Royce and Hadrian to help save her remote village from nocturnal attacks, they are once more drawn into the schemes of the wizard Esrahaddon. While Royce struggles to breech the secrets of an ancient elven tower, Hadrian attempts to rally the villagers to defend themselves against the unseen killer. Once more, what begins with the simple theft of a sword places the two thieves at the center of a firestorm - but this time the outcome could change the future of Elan.

Impressive version of a favorite series

This entire series has entertained me several times and I still enjoyed the dramatized version almost as if it was new to me. The character voices sounded right and the whole experience was enhanced. I haven’t always liked dramatized versions so I was hesitant about this one - now I’m a fan and willing to try more like this.

narration was torture

it's a great story if you can get past the narration. still recommend as the other voice actors make up for the narrator's cold and monotone speech

Absolutely love this version!

I have the audible version of every single book about Royce and Hadrian that Tim Gerard Reynolds read, but this cast acting out the book is so incredibly exciting, I just love it. The cast is perfect, although the main narrator, who doesn't voice a character, is rather pedestrian, compared to the actual voice actors.

I highly recommend this to those familiar with the Riyria books (and heroes) and anyone who wants a rip-roaring adventure filled with high audacity and daring-do.

One of the best I have listened to!

Awesome book, and great acting with the narration! If you like medieval stories, this is the book for you. Just make sure you download the "dramatized" version to get better narration.

Sad whole series wasn’t dramatized.

I’m enjoying the story, but the character development is where this work shines. I truly care about what’s next for many of the characters.
Starting next in series now.

Loved it!

I've already listened to this series before but when I saw that it was available as a graphic audio I thought it would be fun to listen to again and I was right! I've actually listened to every book written about Royce and Hadrian (Ryira, Elvish for two 😉). And I think the voice actors nailed it! The voice of Royce was exactly as I would have imagined him. And Hadrian too. Which I really find to be pretty amazing. I didn't have to warm up to their voices at all, they were just right from chapter one! And these graphic audios really are a movie in your mind. The footsteps of someone running up to another person, the music in the background portraying the mood of the scene, the sounds of weather, the sword battles, all brought to life. I give it 5 stars!

Music can be distracting

Main performer tends to be monotone. Story is good but drags in places. Characters are interesting.
