Publisher's summary

Just as Harper Price starts coming to terms with her role as David Stark's battle-ready Paladin, protector, and girlfriend, her world goes crazy all over again.

Overwhelmed by his Oracle powers, David flees Pine Grove and starts turning teenage girls into Paladins, and these young ladies seem to think that Harper is the enemy David needs protecting from. Ordinarily Harper would be able to fight off any Paladin who comes her way, but her powers have been dwindling since David left town, which means her life is on the line yet again.

Now it's a desperate race for Harper to find and rescue David before she backslides from superhero to your garden-variety type-A belle.

The sweet end to a magical series.

Love this series, a nice little slice of adventure. Usually light with some sweet emotional moments; some good fun.

A Lackluster and Disappointing Finale

Would you try another book from Rachel Hawkins and/or Amy Rubinate?

Yes. But I probably wouldn't buy it.

What was most disappointing about Rachel Hawkins’s story?

This book was a strange rabbit chase followed by a predictable climax and ending. The gang (Harper, David, Ryan, and Bee) is all divided (the guys play almost no role in this story), so the fascinating tension and chemistry between all the characters that was in the first two books is completely gone. And neither the narrative nor the dialogue is very funny like the first book was. The setting completely removed itself from the HS and southern social scene context (Book 1 had homecoming and cotillion. Book 2 had a beauty pageant. Book 3 had nothing...). It's also several hours shorter than the first two. And just boring. No twist. No shock. No emotional punch. It's exactly what you'd expect but not in a good way.

So basically, this book is NOTHING like the first two. I'm disappointed. The story definitely wraps itself up. But I expected more. It has taught me how I don't want my own novel series to develop.

Have you listened to any of Amy Rubinate’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She's an alright reader. I probably preferred her reading of this series over The Selection (but honestly, I hated those stories whether reading with eyes or ears).

Do you think Lady Renegades needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think it's done. It had SO MUCH POTENTIAL. And it was pretty much wasted with this last book. There's no fixing that.

Boring Finale

I should've known that I wouldn't like this book since the last book ended in a very frustrating note .. this book was just pure boring and nothing was really happening .. the whole thing is about a girl road trip until they reach David and then .. nothing
the ending was so dull and the whole book was just a snooze fest, I don't think you are missing much if you didn't read this series it wasn't that much fun, just read ( Hex Hall ), it will be worth your time
but I'm not happy with this series at all
