About this listen

She’s in a white dress that dances around her ankles, and her hair tumbles in a long sheet of curls down her back. A veil covers her beautiful eyes, and she smiles directly at him.

Janie is everything Rafe’s ever imagined she would be on her wedding day.

Breathtaking. Gorgeous. Perfect.

The moment he sees her walking down the aisle toward him, he knows that she’s the one. Then, she passes him, making her way to the man she’s to marry.

A man that wasn’t him. A man that he knows with 100 percent certainty isn’t good enough for her.

It seems that her father isn’t the only one who’s having a hard time giving her away. Rafe only wishes he knew why.

Everything about Janie sparks protective instincts he doesn’t feel for anyone, not even his own fiancé. What he feels for the bride, however, isn’t merely a simple attraction. He knows that something is there just beneath the surface...if only he could reach it. It has to be something huge, too, otherwise he wouldn’t be drinking whiskey straight from the flask in a church pew and wondering how many years he would do in prison if he shot the groom in front of about a hundred witnesses, half of those being cops.

He was good...but not that good.

A near-death experience cost Rafe almost six months of his memory, but right now, he can’t help but feel like a huge mistake is being made on both of their parts. One that’s going to cost him everything.

Then, she says, "I do."

Author's note: I, Lani Lynn Vale, solemnly swear that there is no cheating in this book. But looks are deceiving. So hang with me.

I hesitated to listen to this book…I just wasn’t sure about the possibility of infidelity BUT LLV assures you there is none AND there isn’t! I also got confused between another of her characters and this one in the Dixie Warden series. I need to go back and check! But a good book overall!

Phew

I listened to these series very sporadically so I’ve been excited to hear rafe and Janie’s story! I loved it per usual. I love every single book in every series so far and rafe has always intrigued me. Anyways classic Lani book in these series but there’s just two things that bugged me.

Possible spoilers below:

1. It got on my nerves that James was so willing to let Jannie marry this slime ball that no one likes and he can tell his daughter doesn’t even like.. obviously it worked out but I would be so hurt if my dad was like yeah you seem happy enough. Like no tell me how much of a dirt bag this guy is and let’s talk about it maybe?
2. I know the whole wedding was a hail marry but if rafe didn’t look like he cared they made it seem like she would have gone through with it just because she knows she wouldn’t move on. But like Janie’s such a strong character to be pressured into marrying someone she doesn’t even remotely like rubbed me the wrong way. Obviously she didn’t but those were the two things that kinda made me sad I guess lmao.

Rafe & Janie

Having listened to all LLV audiobooks to date, this one is by far her best yet. Enjoyed the narrator choices and the book content is a step above her others. Looking forward to more audiobooks in this series.

LLV's best yet....

Not a big fan of the female reader. The story dragged when she read. I've listened to all of LLV stories.

The book was ok

This book was good and I liked the characters. I listened to the audio and enjoyed the narrators and the way they brought this book to life.

Good Listen

Let me start by saying I love everything by this author. No lies there, but that's a big BUT; I didn't care for the female narrator at all. I managed to finish listening to the audio because of Joe Arden; he did really well. Despite the female narrator part, I still love the book and would listen to it all over again even if I have to daydream it's another actor that's doing the female part.
