Publisher's summary

Critic reviews

"Emboldened by the idea of daily do-overs, [Amanda] discovers that small changes in her attitude and actions result in sometimes-subtle, sometimes-monumental shifts in results for herself, her family, and her friends. A rewarding choice for readers and a natural for booktalks and discussion groups." ( Booklist)

In the words of a 9 yr old

What made the experience of listening to 11 Birthdays the most enjoyable?

My name is Jackson, and I read this book for Battle of the books. I am 9. I thought it was going to be a girly book, but it wasn't. It was really good. I liked the person who read it. They had great voices and made it sound real. I liked the way the book left you wondering what would happen next. You were rooting for the two main characters the whole time. you wanted them to succeed. You'd think it would be boring to repeat a day, but this book was not boring. It had us all hooked.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the twist. You'll have to read it to see what I mean. No spoliers from me.

Which character – as performed by Kathleen McInerney – was your favorite?

The old lady with the duck shaped birthmark!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It builds up and resets so much. I didn't cry, but I yelled out frustrated every time the day repeated.

Any additional comments?

You should read it! You wont be disappointed.

Great Fun!

Two kids experience the same day 11 times in a row, until they figure out how to
get their lives back to normal.

What did you like best about this story?

The way Wendy Mass writes makes it great fun for kids.

What does Kathleen McInerney bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Expressions, and voices, and the right pace.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Probably not

Perfect Family listening

Veteran narrator Kathleen McInerney is perfectly matched with author Wendy Mass in this naturalistic book about 11 year old Amanda and her best boy friend Leo - with a touch of magic realism thrown in to help them get through a year of being on the outs with each other. This story captivated our whole family (including girls ages 8 and 11) on a 6 hour drive last weekend - I only wished it had been 30 minutes longer because as soon as it finished the "I'm bored" chorus started. McInerney deftly handles both narration and the true to life dialogue.

my favorite book ever!

I fell in love with the story and thought Wendy did a great job setting the scene and it is also one of the most realistic and relatable books I have ever read, but I also thought that Kathleen did a great job narrating it, to the point where it's too good to put into words.

So funny and imaginative!

The hardest part of writing a fantasy book is that you have to imagine and fill in the missing puzzles, however Wendy Mass nailed it!!! I really like Kaitlin McInerny's voice and speaking out different and fun voices for each of the unique characters 👍 I loved the main characters' reaction and how they plowed through! Plus, this book is seriously funny 😂

Fav Book!!

This is about my hundredth time listening to this, and every time I find something new from finding out Amanda and Leo’s birthday is on June 5th to the one time you can hear the narrator turn the page. This was always been one of my favorite book series, and will likely always be.

Light and quick read but just okay

My boys are 13 and 11.
They all sorta enjoyed this but it didn’t really resonate with them. Likely more appropriate for slightly younger ages.
